Lions Bergamo
The Bergamo Lions are an American football team from Bergamo, Italy established in 1983 and playing in the Italian Football League. They won the Eurobowl in 2000, 2001 and 2002, while losing to the Vienna Vikings in the finals of 2004 and 2005 Eurobowl. In Italy, the Lions have won the Italian league championship more than any other team 12 times. The Lions sign and pay American and Canadian professional import players to play for the team alongside Italian and European import teammates. Doug Cosbie
Douglas Durant Cosbie (born March 27, 1956) is a former American football tight end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Santa Clara University. Cosbie has been a football coach for several years and is currently head coach of the Bergamo Lions in the Italian Football League. Early years Cosbie attended Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, California. He competed in football, basketball, baseball and ran in the two-mile relay in track. Italian Football League (IFL) is the top level American football league in Italy established in 1980. History In the 1970's teams formed and played in Italy. In 1980 the first official American football league in Italy was established and crowned a champion. The Eurobowl was the championship final game of a tournament style playoff to determine the champion of all of the American football leagues in Europe. The tournament featured the top or champion clubs from each countries top league that was called the European Football League (EFL). The first Eurobowl final was played in 1986 in Amsterdam. After 2014, it was known as the BIG6 European Football League (BIG6). Before 2014, the Eurobowl was the final championship game of the European Football League. The last BIG6 was played in 2018. The last Eurobowl was played on 8 June 2019 without any playoff league competition prior to the game. The Potsdam Royals beat the Amsterdam Crusaders 62–12. The Vienna Vikings is an American football club based in Vienna, Austria. Jeris McIntyre (born July 4, 1981 in Tampa, Florida) is a former American football wide receiver who was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round of the 2004 NFL Draft. McIntyre played college football for the Auburn Tigers football, Auburn Tigers from 2000 to 2003, and led the team with 41 receptions for 621 yards in 2003. On July 19, 2004, McIntyre signed a three-year contract with Kansas City. Jeris also played in NFL Europe where he made the ALL-Europe team after leading the league in yards per catch. Tyrone Antonio Rush (born February 5, 1971) is a former professional American football running back in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, having played in 5 games in the 1994 NFL season. He also played several seasons in the Italian Football League. College Rush played college football at the University of North Alabama, where he was an All American. He was also selected as the 1993 runner-up for the Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA Division II Player of the Year. Brian David Baldinger (born January 7, 1959) is a former professional American football offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles.
