Lino Jordan
Lino Jordan (15 May 1944 – 6 June 2023) was an Italian biathlete. He competed at the 1972 Winter Olympics and the 1976 Winter Olympics. Jordan was born in Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses. Together with Mario Bacher and Franco Ceroni, he also finished third in the 1973 Trofeo Mezzalama ski mountaineering competition. Jordan died on 6 June 2023, at the age of 79. Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses ( Valdôtain: ) is a village and ''comune'' in the Aosta Valley, region in the north-western Italy. Geography Saint-Rhémy is the last Italian village before the Swiss border, about 20 kilometers northwest of Aosta. The town is crossed by the river Artanavaz, tributary of the Buthier. * Seismic classification: zone 4 (very low seismicity). History Its Latin name was ''Endracinum'': in Roman times an important mansio stood on the valley to control the road, since the village was located in a strategic point for trade through the Alps. Luigi Weiss
Luigi "Gigi" Weiss (born 17 December 1951) is a former Italian biathlete and ski mountaineer. Weiss was born in Vattaro. Together with Angelo Genuin and Bruno Bonaldi, he placed first in the military team category in the 1975 Trofeo Mezzalama edition, which was carried out as the first World Championship of Skimountaineering. At the 1979 Biathlon World Championships, Weiss won bronze in the 10 km sprint. This was the first medal for an Italian at the Biathlon World Championships, and as the race also counted in the World Cup, it was also the first podium finish for an Italian in the World Cup.
