Old Norse, Old Nordic, or Old Scandinavian, is a stage of development of North Germanic languages, North Germanic dialects before their final divergence into separate Nordic languages. Arthur Gordon Linkletter (born Gordon Arthur Kelly or Arthur Gordon Kelly; sources differ; July 17, 1912 – May 26, 2010) was a Canadian-born American radio and television personality. He was the host of ''House Party'', which ran on CBS radio and television for 25 years, and ''People Are Funny'', which aired on NBC radio and television for 19 years. He became a naturalized United States citizen in 1942. Old clips from Linkletter's ''House Party'' program were later featured as segments on the first incarnation of ''Kids Say the Darndest Things''. A series of books followed which contained the humorous comments made on-air by children. He appeared in four films. Early life Linkletter was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Jack Linkletter (November 20, 1937 – December 18, 2007) was an American game show and television host and entertainer. He was the son of Art Linkletter. Early life Linkletter was born Arthur Jack Linkletter in San Francisco. He was the oldest of Lois and Art Linkletter's five children. He was said to have been inspired to enter show business by his father's show ''Art Linkletter's House Party, House Party''. As a boy, Mr. Linkletter inspired one of his father's most famous "House Party" routines: interviewing young children. Linkletter was an English major at the University of Southern California in 1958 when he began hosting the NBC-TV prime-time summer replacement quiz show ''Haggis Baggis''. Diane Linkletter (October 31, 1948 – October 4, 1969) was the daughter and youngest child of popular American media personality Art Linkletter, and his wife Lois Foerster. In 1969, she died by suicide at the age of 20. Background Not widely known to the public before her death, Diane Linkletter was the youngest of five children born to Art Linkletter and his wife Lois Foerster. In 1965, 17-year-old Linkletter married 19-year-old Grant Conroy. Although Conroy had previous signed up for the Navy's NavCad program, the brief marriage offered a deferment from his draft notice; it was quickly annulled and was not publicized, as both Linkletter's and Conroy's families wanted to keep the marriage quiet.
