Linha Do Algarve
Linha do Algarve is a railway line in the region of Algarve, in southern Portugal, which connects the stations of Lagos to the west and Vila Real de Santo António to the east of the Portuguese region. Geography The line runs east to west along the southern municipalities of the Algarve, except for part of Lagos municipality and all of Vila do Bispo municipality which doesn't have railway. The main stations are Vila Real de Santo António, Tavira, Olhão, Faro, Albufeira, Tunes, Silves, Portimão and Lagos. Other stations include Fuseta, Bom João (Faro), Almancil, Algoz and Estômbar. Operation Passengers and cargo All passenger services are run by the national railway operator Comboios de Portugal. Cargo services are operated by Medway. The infrastructure is owned and maintained by Infraestruturas de Portugal. The main railway station is Faro, the most important cargo terminal is Loulé. Faro District
Faro District ( pt, Distrito de Faro ) is the southernmost district of Portugal, coincident with the Algarve region. The administrative centre, or district capital, is the city of Faro. Albufeira Railway Station
The Albufeira-Ferreiras Station is the railway station for the city of , Algarve, in Portugal. Situated in the civil parish of Ferreiras, in the north of the municipality of Albufeira. The station opened on 1 July 1889. Line The station is on the Linha do Algarve which runs east to west across the Algarve from Lagos in the west to Vila Real de Santo António in the east, on the border with Spain. Part of the line, between Tunes and Faro through Albufeira, is electrified, using overhead catenary. The line east of Faro to Vila Real de Santo António, is not electrified, nor is the western section between Tunes and Lagos. A scheme to electrify the whole line was due to have been completed in 2020, but so far little work has taken place. Train service and station facilities Albufeira - Ferreiras is a stop for long-distance trains between Faro and Lisbon. As of July 2021 there are five trains to and from Lisbon every day. Faro Railway Station
Faro station ( pt, Estação de Faro) is the main railway station in the city of Faro, Portugal, operated by . It opened on 1 July 1889. The line to the north-west is electrified, using overhead catenary, the line east, to the terminus at Vila Real de Santo António, is not. In 1999, following the creation of a rail crossing over the River Tagus at Lisbon, the Alfa Pendular high speed electric tilting train service was introduced on the Braga-Oporto-Lisbon-Faro line, with through trains south of Lisbon starting in 2003. Faro currently receives Alfa Pendular, Intercities and regional trains. Olhão Railway Station
Olhão (), officially known as Olhão da Restauração, is a city and municipality in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. The population of the municipality in 2011 was 45,396, in an area of . Located near the regional capital Faro and forming a single urban agglomeration, it is a fishing port and tourist center. Along with Faro, Loulé and Tavira, Olhão forms a conurbation from the eastern and central Algarve. History Since pre-history, Olhão has had vestiges of human occupation, although the oldest written record dates only from 1378, referring to a place called ''Olham''. The estuary and abundance of water were decisive factors that influenced fishermen, at the beginning of the 17th century, to congregate along the beach of Olhão.
