Linear (film)
''Linear'' is a 2009 film directed by Anton Corbijn. The film includes music from U2's 2009 studio album, ''No Line on the Horizon'', and was included on both digital and DVD formats with several editions of the album. Development The idea behind the film originated from a U2 video shoot in June 2007. During the shoot, Corbijn asked the band to remain still while he filmed them; this created a "photograph on film", in which U2 did not move but the objects around them did. Impressed, the band believed that the listening experience could be enhanced with visuals, and in May 2008 they commissioned Corbijn to create the film. The film was created as a companion to ''No Line on the Horizon'', and Corbijn has claimed that the film is not a music video, but rather "a new way to listen to a record" and "a new way to use film to connect to music". French Language
French ( or ) is a Romance language of the Indo-European family. It descended from the Vulgar Latin of the Roman Empire, as did all Romance languages. Stand Up Comedy (song)
"Stand Up Comedy" is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the seventh track on their 2009 album '' No Line on the Horizon''. The track was first developed during the recording sessions in Fez, Morocco, but the band struggled to complete the song and it was recreated numerous times over the following 16 months. It underwent several title changes during this time, being referred to first as "For Your Love", then "Stand Up", and finally "Stand Up Comedy". The song's lyrics were inspired by the 2008 Stand Up and Take Action campaign, and several lines reflect singer Bono's sense of hubris. Reception towards the song was mixed, though numerous reviews likened the track's guitar riffs to Led Zeppelin. Writing and recording "Stand Up Comedy" went through several different iterations throughout the ''No Line on the Horizon'' sessions. Magnificent (U2 Song)
"Magnificent" is a song by U2. It is the second track on the band's 2009 album ''No Line on the Horizon'' and was released as the album's second single. The song was originally titled "French Disco", but was renamed later in the recording sessions. It is played before the start of every New York Rangers home game at Madison Square Garden. The single was released on 4 May 2009 and reached number 42 on the UK Singles Chart. While well received by critics, it was the first domestically-released U2 single not to make the UK Top 40 since "A Celebration" in 1982. It did, however, reach number one on the Scottish Singles Chart, their second single from ''No Line on the Horizon'' to do so. Writing and recording "Magnificent" originated from the band's improvised recording sessions with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois in Fez, Morocco in June 2007.
