Line 13 of the Beijing Subway () is a metro line that serves the northern suburbs of Beijing. On a map, Line 13's route is shaped like an inverted U that arcs north of the city and connects residential suburbs in Haidian, Changping and Chaoyang Districts with the 2nd Ring Road and Line 2 at Xizhimen and Dongzhimen. With the exception of and a tunnel between Xi'erqi and Longze, all of Line 13's tracks and stations are located on the surface or elevated above ground. 3rd Ring Road (Beijing)
The 3rd Ring Road () is a -long city ring road that encircles the city center of Beijing. When Beijing first became the capital of the People's Republic of China, the road existed only in segments encircling the northern, eastern, and southern parts of the city. At the time, its segments were known as Beihuan (North Ring), Donghuan (East Ring), and Nanhuan (South Ring), respectively. The 3rd Ring Road was finally finished in 1994 with the completion of the western segment. There are 52 flyovers, including Sanyuanqiao, which links it to the Airport Expressway. Line 15 of the Beijing Subway () is a rapid transit rail line in northern Beijing. The line has a total length of across northern Beijing from Qinghuadongluxikou in Haidian District in the west, to Fengbo in Shunyi District in the east. The line uses Sparcs CBTC system supplied by Nippon Signal. It cost ¥17.6 billion. The line features 6-car trains similar to other lines in the Beijing Subway. Line 5 of the Beijing Subway () is Beijing's only subway line with an entirely north-south route. Line 5's color is maroon. It entered into operation on October 7, 2007. Changping Line, Beijing Subway
The Changping Line of the Beijing Subway () is a half elevated, half underground rapid transit line in northern Beijing. The line started construction in 2009. In September 2010, Construction of Phase I was completed, and was followed by three-month test run. Phase I of the line opened on December 30, 2010 and ran north from the Xi'erqi station on Line 13, Beijing Subway, Line 13 to Nanshao. On December 26, 2015, Phase II of the line opened, extending the line northwards to the Ming Tombs, Ming Tombs Scenic Area and terminating at Changping Xishankou station.
