Lindy Duncan (golfer)
Lindy Duncan (born January 16, 1991) is an American professional golfer and LPGA Tour player. She was runner-up at the 2018 Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic and the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship. Early life, college and amateur career Duncan grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and attended American Heritage School. She started playing golf at the age of 9 and had a successful amateur and college career, reaching the semi-finals in the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur at the age of 15. In 2009, the same year she graduated high school, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open, and advanced to match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur for the fourth straight year, placing fifth in stroke-play qualifying. The Epson Tour, previously known as the LPGA Futures Tour, and known for sponsorship reasons between 2006 and 2010 as the Duramed Futures Tour and between 2012 and 2021 as the Symetra Tour, is the official developmental golf tour of the LPGA Tour. The Curtis Cup is the best known team trophy for women amateur golfers, awarded in the biennial Curtis Cup Match. It is co-organised by the United States Golf Association and The R&A and is contested by teams representing the United States and "Great Britain and Ireland". The same two teams originally contested the Ryder Cup, but unlike that competition, the Curtis Cup has not widened the Great Britain and Ireland team to include all Europeans (nor has the analogous event for amateur men, the Walker Cup). The Women's Open (originally known as the Women's British Open, and still widely referred to by that name outside the UK) is a women's major golf championships, major championship in Professional golf tours#Women's tours, women's professional golf. The Women's PGA Championship (branded as the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for sponsorship reasons) is a women's professional golf tournament. First held in 1955, it is one of five majors on the LPGA Tour. The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983. It was founded in 1984 and has been played yearly, except in 1986 and 2011, in Sylvania, Ohio, a suburb northwest of Toledo. The tournament is televised by Golf Channel. It was originally held in June, moved to July in 2003, and moved again to September in 2013. It returned to a July date in 2019.
