James Girard Lindsley
James Girard Lindsley (March 19, 1819 – December 4, 1898) was an American politician and a U.S. Representative from New York. Early life Born in Orange, New Jersey, Lindsley attended the public schools, the military academy in Orange operated by Truman B. Ransom, and Pierson's Orange Classical School. Career Lindsley moved to New York and was a trustee of the village of Rondout, New York from 1859 to 1864. He also served as president of the village of Rondout in 1852 and 1867–1869. An ardent Whig, Republican, and Liberal, Lindsley was elected supervisor of Kingston, New York, in March 1872 and in April of the same year was elected the first mayor of Kingston, to which office he was reelected for six consecutive years. John Berrien Lindsley
John Berrien Lindsley (1822–1897) was an American Presbyterian minister and educator in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Princeton, New Jersey and educated at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, he married an heiress to the Carnton plantation and ministered to slaves and the poor. He was Professor of Medicine at the University of Nashville and co-founder of its Medical Department (a precursor to the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine). He served as the Dean of the Medical Department from 1850 to 1855, and as the Chancellor of the University of Nashville from 1855 to its demise in 1873. During the American Civil War of 1861-1865, he protected its campus buildings, and he was in charge of Confederate hospitals in Nashville. Ogden R. Lindsley (August 11, 1922, in Providence, Rhode Island – October 10, 2004) was an American psychologist. He is best known for developing precision teaching (including the Standard Celeration Chart). In 1948, he obtained an A.B. in Psychology from Brown University and two years later in 1950 a Sc.M. in Experimental Psychology. At Harvard University he studied Psychology under B. F.
