Abigail Lindo
Abigail Lindo (3 August 1803 – 28 August 1848) was a British lexicographer. She was the first British Jew who compiled a Hebrew-English dictionary. She is considered to be the only woman to have made a significant contribution to philology in the nineteenth century. Life Lindo was born in London in 1803. She was one of the eighteen children of Sarah (born Mocatta) and David Abarbanel Lindo. Her parents were Sephardi Jews and members of leading families. She was related to Benjamin Disraeli and one of her cousins was Sir Moses Montefiore. It was her father who performed Disraeli's circumcision. It was her mother's brother, Moses Mocatta who saw to her education. Under his guidance, she became a respected scholar of the Bible with a wide knowledge of Hebrew. She came to prominence after she created an English-Hebrew vocabulary for her own use. Lindø RSC
Lindø RSC is a Danish Rugby union, rugby club in Munkebo. They function as an independent club, with their own junior teams, but have been playing in combination with RC Odense at senior level since 2010. The club is probably best known as being on the wrong end of a 194-0 scoreline against now-defunct Comet in 1973, which has been noted in the Guinness World Records, Guinness Book of Records. Lindö is a locality situated in Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County, Sweden with 4,915 inhabitants in 2010. It is situated just a few kilometers from the centre of the city of Norrköping and is often considered part of it. Vincent Lindo
Cleveland Vincent Lindo (born 6 June 1936) played first-class cricket in one match for Nottinghamshire in 1960 and in another single match for Somerset in 1963. He was born at Bigwoods, St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Lindo was a right-arm fast bowler and a right-handed lower order batsman. In his solitary match for Nottinghamshire in 1960, he did better with bat than ball, making 18 and 24 batting at No 9, but failing to take a wicket in 20 overs in the match as Cambridge University recorded their first victory at Fenner's for four seasons. Lindo played for Nottinghamshire's second eleven in the Second Eleven Championship in 1960 (though not in second eleven matches in the Minor Counties Championship), but did not win a recall to the first team or a renewal of his contract at the end of the season. Olga Lindo (13 July 1899 – 7 May 1968) was an English actress. She was the daughter of Frank Lindo, a well-known actor, manager and author. She made her stage debut at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on 26 December 1913. She later joined her father's touring company in a range of roles. For Basil Dean she appeared in ''R.U.R'' in 1923, and in 1925 she gave what ''The Times'' described as a formidable performance as Sadie Thompson in Maugham's ''Rain'' at the Garrick Theatre. She toured in South Africa in 1930 and 1934 in a variety of parts. Her repertoire ranged from the classics to farce. Mark Prager Lindo (18 September 1819 — 9 March 1877) was a Dutch prose writer of English-Jewish descent. He was born in London, England. Early life He went to the Netherlands aged nineteen, became established there as a private teacher of the English language, he soon made up his mind to remain. In 1842 he passed his examination at Arnhem, qualifying him as a professor of English in the Netherlands, subsequently becoming a teacher of the English language and literature at the gymnasium in that town. In 1853 he was appointed in a similar capacity at the Royal Military Academy in Breda.
