Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo is a Ghanaian politician and member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Shai-Osudoku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. Education In 2000, Ocloo obtained her Diploma in Banking from the Cambridge Academy in Accra and a Business Administration (BA) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She holds a diploma in Insurance which she attained from the National Insurance College at Airport Accra in the year 2004. Career Ocloo is an economist, banker and an insurer by profession. She served as a Client Service Consultant at Old Mutual Assurance, formerly Provident Life Insurance. Shai Osudoku District
Shai Osudoku District is one of the twenty-nine districts in Greater Accra Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Dangme West District in 1988, which was created from the former Dangme District Council, until the southern part of the district was split off to create Ningo-Prampram District on 28 June 2012; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Shai-Osudoku District. The Shai Osudoku District Assembly is located in the eastern part of Greater Accra Region and has Dodowa as its capital town, which is about 39 km from the regional capital, Accra. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. Convention People's Party
The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a Socialism, socialist political party in Ghana based on the ideas of the first President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah. The CPP was formed in June 1949 after Nkrumah broke away from the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC). Nkrumah was the then appointed Secretaty General of the UGCC when he was arrested by the leader of the UGCC and imprisoned for an alleged thought, plans and power against Kwame Nkrumah's leadership. Kwame Nkrumah then formed the Convention People's Party with support of some UGCC members and had a purpose for self governance. Upon Kwame Nkrumah's leadership with the CPP, he orgranized a non violent protest and strike for support of the purpose for self-governance which took him to imprisonment for a second time, but he was released after winning a massive vote by the CPP following the colonies election general election whilst he was in prison. 2016 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2016 to elect a President and Members of Parliament. They had originally been scheduled for 7 November 2016, but the date was later rejected by Parliament. Former foreign minister Nana Akufo-Addo of the opposition New Patriotic Party was elected President on his third attempt, defeating incumbent President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress. The election results were announced on 9 December 2016 due to a delay of voting in two areas. At 19:51 local time, Mahama called Akufo-Addo to concede defeat. At 20:45, the Electoral Commission declared that Akufo-Addo had defeated Mahama in a single round. It was the first time in Ghana's history that a sitting president had been defeated for reelection. David Tetteh Assumeng
David Tetteh Assumeng is a Ghanaian politician. He was the member of parliament for the Shai Osudoku Constituency from 7 January 2005 to 6 January 2017. Early life and education Assumeng was born on 10 September 1961. He hails from Osudoku in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. He obtained his Diploma from the University of Ghana in 2004 and his Masters in Governance and Leadership (EMGL) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2008. Career Prior to entering politics, Assumeng was the Youth Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council at the Ada West District. Politics Assumeng entered parliament on 7 January 2005 on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress representing the Shai Osudoku Constituency. He lost the NDC primaries in 2015 and was consequently unable to contest for the seat in the 2016 Ghanaian general election. His term in parliament ended on 6 January 2017. The Speaker is not an elected member of parliament though he/she is qualified to stand for election as such.
