Linda Fargo
Linda Fargo is the senior vice president (since 2006) of the fashion office and the director of women's fashion and store presentation for the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City. Early life and education Born in 1957, she grew up in the suburbs of Milwaukee and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. After her move to New York, she started as a window dresser at Macy’s, eventually rising to become the visual director. Career She joined Berdorf Goodman as the display director in June 1996. Fargo was one of eighteen Manhattan window-display deisgners that collaborated on the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum's The Window Show in May 1999. Bergdorf Goodman
Bergdorf Goodman Inc. is a luxury department store based on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York. The company was founded in 1899 by Herman Bergdorf and was later owned and managed by Edwin Goodman, and later his son, Andrew Goodman. Today, Bergdorf Goodman operates from two stores situated across the street from each other at Fifth Avenue between 57th Street and 58th Streets. The main store, which opened at its current location in 1928, is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue. Victoria Roberts is a cartoonist and performer. New Wave (design)
In design, New Wave or Swiss Punk Typography refers to an approach to typography that defies strict grid-based arrangement conventions. Characteristics include inconsistent letterspacing, varying typeweights within single words and type set at non-right angles. Description New Wave design was influenced by Punk and postmodern language theory. But there is a debate as to whether New Wave is a break or a natural progression of the Swiss Style. Sans-serif font still predominates, but the New Wave differs from its predecessor by stretching the limits of legibility. The break from the grid structure meant that type could be set center, ragged left, ragged right, or chaotic. The artistic freedom produced common forms such as the bold stairstep.
