The Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner is the police and crime commissioner, an elected official tasked with setting out the way crime is tackled by Lincolnshire Police in the English County of Lincolnshire. The post was created in November 2012, following an election held on 15 November 2012, and replaced the Lincolnshire Police Authority. The first incumbent was Independent candidate, Alan Hardwick, who beat Campaign to Stop Politicians Running Policing candidate, David Bowles, by 4,135 votes after a second ballot. Conservative Richard Davies was third and Labour’s Paul Gleeson came fourth. Marc Jones (police Commissioner)
Marc Stuart Jones (born April 1972) is a British politician, and the current Police and Crime Commissioner for Lincolnshire, representing the Conservative Party. He was elected to the post on 5 May 2016, succeeding the previous incumbent, Alan Hardwick. Following his election Jones chose Stuart Tweedale as his deputy, but Lincolnshire's Police and Crime Panel did not endorse the appointment. Jones announced on 8 June 2016 that he would appoint Tweedale to the post despite the Panel's opposition. Jones was re-elected in 2021 with a 57.9% majority - securing 102,813 of the 177,528 votes cast. Police Reform And Social Responsibility Act 2011
The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (c. 13) is an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It transfers the control of police forces from police authorities to elected Police and Crime Commissioners. The first police commissioner elections were held in November 2012. The next elections took place in May 2016 and will subsequently take place every four years. The Act repeals the provisions in the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 which prohibit protests near Parliament Square, and instead restricts certain "prohibited activities" in Parliament Square garden and the adjoining footways. The police have used these powers to confiscate pizza boxes, tarpaulin and umbrellas from protesters in Parliament Square. Lincolnshire Police is the territorial police force covering the non-metropolitan county of Lincolnshire in the East Midlands of England. Despite the name, the force's area does not include North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire, which are covered by Humberside Police instead. Alan Hardwick
Alan Hardwick (born 1949) is a former journalist and television presenter. He was the Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner from 2012 to 2016. Early life He is the son of a Derbyshire coal miner, living on Chesterfield Road in Staveley. He attended Netherthorpe Grammar School in the town. Broadcasting career Newspapers Alan Hardwick began his working life as an assistant in the men's clothing department of the Swallows department store (now gone) in Chesterfield. The news editor of the ''Derbyshire Times'' had his suits made in the store and another assistant, Vincent Cleary, arranged an interview for Alan at the newspaper. David Bowles is a public official who has been Chief Executive of Lincolnshire County Council and chairman of United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
