__NOTOC__ Lincoln National Park is a locality located on the Jussieu Peninsula at the southern tip of the Eyre Peninsula in the Australia, Australian state of South Australia about west of the state capital of Adelaide city centre, Adelaide and about south of the city of Port Lincoln. The boundaries of the locality were created on 30 September 2003 for the “long established name.” The locality covers the full extent of the Jussieu Peninsula east of the eastern boundary of the cadastral unit, the Hundred of Sleaford. The full extent of the locality does align with the full extent of the Hundred of Flinders, a cadastral unit with an area of , and which was proclaimed by George Le Hunte, Governor Le Hunte in 1903 and which was named after the British navigator, Matthew Flinders. Boston Island
Boston Island (Barngarla language, Barngarla: ''Goorilyali'' ) is a privately owned island in Port Lincoln, South Australia, Boston Bay, Spencer Gulf, South Australia. It has been primarily used for grazing sheep and was also once the location of a proposed township called Kerrillyilla at the southern end of the island. In 2009, the island was rezoned to allow for future residential and tourism development. As of 2009, it is owned by the former mayor of Port Lincoln, Peter Davis. Davis' development plans include up to 1,000 residential allotments, three tourism developments and an inland marina. Prior to rezoning, there had been little interest expressed in the development plan, despite the then mayor's enthusiasm. The County of Flinders is one of the 49 cadastral counties of South Australia. The county covers the southern part of the Eyre Peninsula “bounded on the north by a line connecting Point Drummond with Cape Burr, and on all other sides by the seacoast, including all islands adjacent to the main land.” History The county was proclaimed by George Grey, the third Governor of South Australia, on 2 June 1842. The county originally extended from Cape Wiles on the west side of the peninsula to Cape Catastrophe in the south and to the “northern extremity of Louth Bay” on the Peninsula’s east coast. HMS Investigator (1801)
HMS ''Investigator'' was the mercantile ''Fram'', launched in 1795, which the Royal Navy purchased in 1798 and renamed HMS ''Xenophon'', and then in 1801 converted to a survey ship under the name HMS ''Investigator''. In 1802, under the command of Matthew Flinders, she was the first ship to circumnavigate Australia. The Navy sold her in 1810 and she returned to mercantile service under the name ''Xenophon''. She was probably broken up c.1872. Background ''Fram'' was built in Sunderland as a collier. She operated off the north-east coast of England before the Royal Navy purchased her in 1798. Memory Cove
Memory Cove is a bay located on the East coast of Jussieu Peninsula on Eyre Peninsula in South Australia approximately South-East of Port Lincoln. It is one of the natural features named by Matthew Flinders in memory of the eight crew who were lost on a cutter that capsized sometime after being launched from HM Sloop ''Investigator'' to search for water on 21 February 1802. Nature conservation is the moral philosophy and conservation movement focused on protecting species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing ecosystem services, and protecting biological diversity. John Jenkins (Australian Politician)
John Greeley Jenkins (8 September 1851 – 22 February 1923) was an American-Australian politician. He was Premier of South Australia from 1901 to 1905. He had previously served as Minister for Education and the Northern Territory and Commissioner for Public Works under Thomas Playford II, Commissioner of Public Works under Charles Kingston and Chief Secretary under Frederick Holder. He was subsequently Agent-General for South Australia from 1905 to 1908. Background and early career Jenkins was born in Pennsylvania, the fourth son of Evan Jenkins and Mary Davis of South Wales. He was educated at the Wyoming Seminary, PA, and after working on his father's farm, became in 1872 a traveller for a publishing company.
