Lincoln () is a cathedral city and district in Lincolnshire, England, of which it is the county town. In the 2021 Census, the Lincoln district had a population of 103,813. The 2021 census gave the urban area of Lincoln, including North Hykeham and Waddington, a recorded population of 127,540. Roman ''Lindum Colonia'' developed from an Iron Age settlement of Britons on the River Witham, near the Fosse Way road. Over time its name was shortened to Lincoln, after successive settlements, including by Saxons and Danes. Landmarks include Lincoln Cathedral (English Gothic architecture; for over 200 years the world's tallest building) and the 11th-century Norman Lincoln Castle. Boultham is a suburb of the Lincolnshire city and county town of Lincoln, England. The population of the City of Lincoln ward at the 2011 census was 7,465. The ecclesiastical parish of Boultham covers most of Lincoln west of the River Witham near Lincoln High Street. The northern boundary is defined by Brayford Pool and the Fossdyke as far as Carholme Golf Course. The parish includes the University of Lincoln, Hartsholme and Swanpool. South Hykeham
South Hykeham is a village and civil parish in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 835. It is situated approximately south-west from the city and county town of Lincoln, Lincolnshire, Lincoln, and on the A1434 road (Great Britain), A1434 road. Since 1931, South Hykeham formed part of the civil parish of Aubourn Haddington and South Hykeham, but this relationship was broken in 1991 and South Hykeham is again a civil parish. North Hykeham is a town and civil parish in the North Kesteven district, in the county of Lincolnshire, England. It forms part of the Lincoln Urban Area. The population of the town at the 2011 census was 13,884. History North Hykeham was originally spelt "North Hyckham", and is commonly referred to as just 'Hykeham'. North Hykeham is independent from Lincoln, despite being contiguous with the city and its surrounding areas. The old village dates back to the Angles, Germanic invaders who occupied much of Britain after the Romans left in 400 AD.
