Lincvolt
LincVolt is a Lincoln Continental#Third generation (1958–1960), 1959 Lincoln Continental, owned by musician Neil Young, that was converted into a more fuel-efficient, hybrid demonstrator vehicle. LincVolt participated in the X Prize Foundation#2007–2010 Progressive Insurance Automotive XPRIZE, Xprize Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize. The LincVolt team had to withdraw from the X Prize competition as they were making a car whereas the purpose of the competition was to produce a commercial business plan. A documentary film was being produced by Larry Johnson (film producer), Larry Johnson before his death on January 21, 2010. On the morning of November 9, 2010, a fire started in LincVolt's charging system while it was recharging at a warehouse belonging to Young. The car was damaged, but it has been restored. Neil Percival Young (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Larry Alderman (L. A.) Johnson (June 11, 1947 – January 21, 2010) was an American film and music producer, director, and editor best known for his long association with musician Neil Young. Early life Born in Ft. Benning, Georgia to a military family, this self-described "military brat" attended Peekskill Military Academy and Rutgers University. While at Peekskill Military Academy, his creative skills and "good ear" for music were well respected. He served as a band leader and drum major. The lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP (lithium ferro-phosphate), or Li-IP) is a type of lithium-ion battery using lithium iron phosphate () as the cathode material, and a graphitic carbon electrode with a metallic backing as the anode. The Mazda Wankel engines are a family of Wankel rotary combustion car engines produced by Mazda. Wankel engines were invented in the early 1950s by Felix Wankel, a German engineer. Over the years, displacement has been increased and turbocharging has been added.
