Lina Abu Akleh
Lina Abu Akleh is a Armenia–Palestine relations, Palestinian-Armenian human rights advocate who was named as one of the 100 Women (BBC), BBC's 100 Women in 2022. She was also listed as one of the Time 100, TIME100 Next List for 2022. Her inclusion on the TIME100 list was as a result of her "publicly demanding scrutiny of Israel's treatment of Palestinians". As the niece of Shireen Abu Akleh, a journalist shot dead by Israeli forces in 2022, Lina Abu Akleh has campaigned for justice for her aunt, and for issues affecting Palestinians more generally. This has included petitioning the United States Government to open its own investigation into the death of her aunt, as well as meeting Secretary of state (U.S. state government), Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Shireen Abu Akleh
Shireen Abu Akleh ( ar, شيرين أبو عاقلة; 1971 – May 11, 2022) was a Palestinian-American journalist who worked as a reporter for the Arabic-language channel Al Jazeera for 25 years, and was one of the most prominent names across the Middle East for her decades of reporting in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. Over the course of her career, she reported on numerous major events affecting Palestinians, while also analyzing Israeli politics. Her televised reporting and distinctive sign-offs became common knowledge, and, as a leading journalist in the Arab world, she was a source of inspiration for many other Palestinians and Arabs, particularly as a role model for Arab women intent on pursuing careers in journalism.
