Lin Whitworth
Arthur Lin Whitworth (December 28, 1933 – April 10, 2021) was a Democratic county commissioner from Bannock County, Idaho. He previously served in the Idaho State Senate and was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 2004. Background Arthur Lin Whitworth was born in Inkom, Idaho, a small town near Pocatello, Idaho. He went to the Inkom Elementary and Inkom High Schools. Whitworth worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a lifelong resident of Inkom, Idaho. Elections Idaho Senate District 33 Whitworth was elected to the Idaho Senate in 1994, defeating Republican Karen McGee. The 2004 United States House of Representatives elections were held on November 2, 2004 to elect all 435 seats of the chamber. It coincided with the reelection of President George W. Bush as well as many Senate elections and gubernatorial elections. In the 108th Congress, Republicans held 227 seats, Democrats held 205, with two Republican vacancies and one independent. As a result of this election, the 109th Congress began composed of 232 Republicans, 201 Democrats, one independent (who caucuses with the Democrats), and one vacancy (Democrat Bob Matsui won reelection, but died just two days before the beginning of the 109th Congress.). Idaho's 2nd congressional district is one of two congressional districts in the U.S. state of Idaho, in the eastern portion of the state. Beginning with the 2012 election, the district expanded westward and now includes most of Boise, the state capital and largest city. The district is currently represented by Mike Simpson, a Republican of Idaho Falls. A former dentist in Blackfoot, he was first elected in 1998; the seat opened when his predecessor Mike Crapo successfully ran for the U.S. Senate. Michael Keith Simpson (born September 8, 1950) is an American politician and former dentist serving as the U.S. representative for since 1999. The district covers most of the eastern portion of the state, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Sun Valley, Twin Falls and the northern two-thirds of Boise. Inkom, Idaho
Inkom is a city in Bannock County, Idaho. It is part of the Pocatello, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 854 at the time of the 2010 census. It is the home of the smallest airport in the world, Simko Field Airport 1ID9, with a runway length of 122 meters (400 feet). History The Shoshone Indians named the area around present day Inkom "Ingacom", a reference to the rock formation on the eastern side of town, where one can see the remnants of the "Red Hare". It was photographed in 1930 after the "ears" had been knocked off by vandals. The local creek was originally called "Rabbit River" but later changed to Rapid Creek as it is called today.
