The Limfjord ( common Danish: ''Limfjorden'' , in north Jutlandish dialect: ''Æ Limfjord'') is a shallow part of the sea, located in Denmark where it has been regarded as a fjord ever since Viking times. However, it now has inlets both from the North Sea and Kattegat, and hence separates the North Jutlandic Island (Danish: ''Nørrejyske Ø'', which includes the old provinces of ''Vendsyssel'', ''Han herred'' and ''Thy'') from the rest of the Jutland Peninsula. The Limfjord extends from Thyborøn Channel on the North Sea to Hals on the Kattegat. The Limfjord Railway Bridge ( da, Jernbanebroen over Limfjorden) is a railway bridge carrying the Vendsyssel railway line across the Limfjord, a shallow sound separating the North Jutlandic Island from the rest of the Jutland Peninsula, between Aalborg and Nørresundby in North Jutland, Denmark. Nørresundby
Nørresundby () is a city in Aalborg Municipality, north of Limfjorden, in Vendsyssel, in Denmark. The urban area has a population of 23,718 (1 January 2021). It is located just north of Aalborg, which lies south of Limfjorden. Statistically its own urban area since 2006, it is often still considered part of Aalborg, sometimes the name Greater Aalborg (''Stor-Aalborg'') is used to describe the concept. The city is connected to Aalborg by Limfjordsbroen, which is a road bridge, and an iron railway bridge, as well as a motorway (E45) passing it to the east and running under the Limfjord. Vendsyssel-Thy
The North Jutlandic Island (), Vendsyssel-Thy, or Jutland north of the Limfjord (''Jylland nord for Limfjorden''), is the northernmost part of Denmark and of Jutland. It is more common to refer to the three traditional districts Vendsyssel, Hanherred and Thy, however. The area has been intermittently a tied island, and during modern times was not surrounded by water until a storm in February 1825, which severed the region from the remainder of Jutland and caused a water connection between the North Sea and the western end of the Limfjord. Hence it is traditionally regarded as a part of Jutland rather than a separate island. Geographically, it is the second largest island of Denmark after Zealand (excluding Greenland) with a population of 294,424 on 1 January 2020. 309,834 lived on the island in 1981. Limfjordsbroen is a Danish bridge which connects Nørresundby and Aalborg over Limfjord, a shallow sound. Livø
Livø () is a 320-hectare Danish island with approximately 10-year-round residents. The island is located centrally in the Limfjord, about 20 minutes by boat from Rønbjerg, and approximately midway between Nykøbing Mors, Løgstør, Fjerritslev and Thisted. Northeast of the island lies Løgstør Bredning while Livø Broads lies west and south of the island. Geography Livø has been a protected island since 1977. It is accessible by ferry daily between 1 April and 1 September. Dogs and motor vehicles are not permitted on the island. It is possible to walk around the entire island in one afternoon, which is about 10 km total distance.
