Limakatso Mahasa
Limakatso Patricia Mahasa (born 12 December 1978) is a South African politician who currently serves as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in the Free State. A member of the African National Congress, she previously served as the MEC for Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs and as the MEC for Social Development. Early life and education Mahasa was born in Maokeng, Kroonstad in the Orange Free State Province on 12 December 1978. She matriculated from Calculus High School. Mahasa went on to earn a qualification in Advanced Governance and Public Leadership from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2016 and a competence certificate on strategic diplomacy from the University of Johannesburg in 2017. Free State (province)
The Free State, known as Orange Free State until the 28th of June 1995 when its name was changed, is a province of South Africa. Its capital is Bloemfontein, which is also South Africa's judicial capital. Its historical origins lie in the Boer republic called the Orange Free State and later Orange Free State Province. 2019 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 8 May 2019 to elect a new President, National Assembly and provincial legislatures in each province. These were the sixth elections held since the end of apartheid in 1994 and determined who would become the next President of South Africa. Incumbent President Cyril Ramaphosa led the ruling African National Congress, with the party attempting to retain its majority status and secure Ramaphosa a full term in office as president; his predecessor, Jacob Zuma, resigned from office on 14 February 2018. 2014 South African General Election
General elections were held in South Africa on 7 May 2014, to elect a new National Assembly and new provincial legislatures in each province. It was the fifth election held in South Africa under conditions of universal adult suffrage since the end of the apartheid era in 1994, and also the first held since the death of Nelson Mandela. It was also the first time that South African expatriates were allowed to vote in a South African national election. The National Assembly election was won by the African National Congress (ANC), but with a reduced majority of 62.1%, down from 65.9% in the 2009 election.
