Peter Lilley
Peter Bruce Lilley, Baron Lilley, PC (born 23 August 1943) is a British politician and life peer who served as a cabinet minister in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major. A member of the Conservative Party, he was Member of Parliament (MP) Hitchin and Harpenden from 1997 to 2017 and, prior to boundary changes, St Albans from 1983. Born in Kent, Lilley studied economics at Clare College, Cambridge. He served as Trade and Industry Secretary from July 1990 to April 1992. As Social Security Secretary from April 1992 to May 1997, he introduced Incapacity Benefit. On 26 April 2017, he announced his retirement as an MP. He has been a long-term critic of the European Union and backed Brexit in the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum. He was supportive of the Eurosceptic pressure group Leave Means Leave. In May 2018, he was nominated for a peerage in the House of Lords. Lilley Township is a civil township of Newaygo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 835 at the 2020 census. The unincorporated communities of Bitely and Lilley are within the township. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , of which is land and (3.06%) is water. Charles Lilley
Sir Charles Lilley (27 August 1827 – 20 August 1897) was a Premier of Queensland, Premier and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland. He had a significant influence on the form and spirit of state education in colonial Queensland which lasted well into the 20th century. Lilley, Hertfordshire
Lilley is a village and civil parish in the North Hertfordshire district of Hertfordshire, England. It lies north-east of the centre of Luton, its post town, and west of Hitchin. The parish had a population of 384 at the 2021 United Kingdom census, 2021 census. Geography The village lies in a dry valley within the Chiltern Hills, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The valley continues for several miles to the south of the village, where it is known as Lilley Bottom, extending into the parishes of Offley and King's Walden. There is a ridge of high ground to the east of the village known as Lilley Hoo, which reaches its highest point at Telegraph Hill, Hertfordshire, Telegraph Hill, above sea level. The Icknield Way Path passes the edge of the parish on its 110-mile course from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk.
