The Bert Diaries are a series of novels written in the form of a diary, by Swedish writers Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson. The main character is a Swedish teenager called Bert Ljung, living in Öreskoga, a fictional town in Sweden, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The first book came out in 1987. Bert and his friends also have a pop/rock band, the ''Heman Hunters''. A TV series was made in 1994, directed by Tomas Alfredson and Svante Kettner. It was followed by a feature film in 1995, also directed by Alfredson. In late-July 2016 the recording of a new Bert film was announced. Between 1993 and 2002, a comic book, ''FF med Bert'', was published and between 1992 and 1999, comic albums were published. ''Berts bravader'' ( sv, Bert's exploits) is a diary novel written by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson and originally published in 1991. It tells the story of Bert Ljung from 2 January to 1 January during the years he turns 14 and 15, covering the spring term in the 7th grade, the upcoming summer break, and the autumn term in the 8th grade. No specific calendar year almanac is used. As standard, Bert opens the chapters with the words "Tjena!" and finishes with "Tjena, tjena – mittbena". Bert writes diary for each week during this calendar year, not each day like the previous, but in turn the chapters are longer than in the Bert's betraktelser trilogy. It also aired over the '' Unga Efter tre'' radio programme back in the early 1990s. Bert writes diary for each day during this calendar year, and most notes depicts what happened yesterday. Originally, the Berts betraktelser trilogy appeared in the radio program '' Almanackan'' during 1989, where one program was done each day during one year, which Sören thought was fitting well for a diary. It tells the story of Bert Ljung from 15 January to 7 June during the calendar year he turns 15 during the spring term in the 8th grade at school in Sweden. The book uses the 1992 almanac following the Gregorian calendar, but no specific year is mentioned, and the (leap year's day isn't mentioned). ''Berts dagbok'' ( sv, Bert's diary), translated as ''In Ned's Head'', is a diary novel, written by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson and originally published in 1987. It tells the story of Swedish fifth-grader Bert Ljung during the spring term from 14 January to 4 June the year he turns 12. Being the first of the ''Bert Diaries'', the term has later also become a term for the entire Bert Universe. Created to be older and tougher than Sune, the idea of writing as a diary novel was inspired by Barbro Lindgren's '' Världshemligt'', but during the Gothenburg Book Fair a person appeared, stating the concept had been taken from ''The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13¾''. The episodes were originally written during the spring of 1986 for SR Örebro. Olsson was originally supposed to read the chapters before Jacobsson took over. ''Bert'' is a Swedish television series with 12 episodes, based on the ''Bert Diaries'' by Anders Jacobsson and Sören Olsson, and originally airing over SVT each Saturday evening during the period of 1 October-17 December 1994. It was directed by Tomas Alfredson and Svante Kettner. The theme song was performed by Lill-Babs, and called " Älskade ängel". Another song regaining revival with the TV series was Sven-Olof Sandberg's 1938 success " Är det så här när man är kär". The plot is based on the Bert Diaries, but just like in the comics, the story opens in the 6th grade, not the 5th like in the books. It tells the story of Bert Ljung during the calendar year he turns 15 during the autumn term in the 9th grade at school in Sweden. The book only uses chapter titles, but no names. The book also introduces a new concept, "Dagens dikt" ("Poem of the day"), a poem connected to the chapter plot.
