Liliya Nikolaevna Konovalova (russian: Ли́лия Никола́евна Конова́лова; February 20, 1933, Novosibirsk – November 25, 2015, Moscow) was a Soviet volleyball player, player of the USSR team (1955–1962). The CEV Champions League is the top official competition for men's volleyball clubs from the whole of Europe. The competition is organised every year by the European Volleyball Confederation. Formula (2018–19 to present) Qualification A total of 20 teams participate in the main competition, with 18 teams being allocated direct vacancies on the basis of ranking list for European Cup Competitions, and 2 teams from the qualification rounds. League round 20 teams take part in the League round where they are split in to 5 groups. WVC Dinamo Moscow (russian: ЖВК Динамо Москва) is a Russian women's volleyball club based in Moscow which is currently playing in the Super League. It was established in 1926 and dissolved in 1992, but was reestablished in 2004. It is the most successful team in Soviet women's volleyball history with fourteen Championship titles and the most successful team in the CEV Women's Champions League history with eleven titles. The Russia women's national volleyball team is governed by the Russian Volleyball Federation and participated in international volleyball competitions. They played from 1949 to 1991 as the Soviet Union and as the CIS in 1992. The Women's European Volleyball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of Europe, organized by the European Volleyball Confederation ( CEV). The initial gap between championships was variable, but since 1975 they have been awarded every two years. The current champion is Italy, which won its third title at the 2021 tournament. History The first tournament was held in 1949 with participation of seven national teams. It was dominated by teams from Eastern Europe, who at that times were strongest teams not only at the European continent but also in the whole world. The 1962 FIVB Women's World Championship was the fourth edition of the tournament, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB. It was held from 13 to 25 October 1962 in the Soviet Union. As a tournament held once every four years and following its last edition in 1960, the subsequent tournament should have been in 1964.
