Lilius is a Finnish family that descend from the bailiff Hans Rainenius (b. 1540), who lived in Satakunta. His son Vicar Henrik Rainenius-Lilius (1590–1657) together with his three sons where the first to adopt the surname Lilius. Finns
Finns or Finnish people ( fi, suomalaiset, ) are a Baltic Finnic ethnic group native to Finland. Finns are traditionally divided into smaller regional groups that span several countries adjacent to Finland, both those who are native to these countries as well as those who have resettled. Some of these may be classified as separate ethnic groups, rather than subgroups of Finns. These include the Kvens and Forest Finns in Norway, the Tornedalians in Sweden, and the Ingrian Finns in Russia. Rut Irmelin Sandman Lilius (born 14 June 1936) is a Swedish-speaking Finnish writer. Biography Irmelin Sandman was born in Helsinki. Her first book, , was published in 1955. She has written picture books and novels for children as well as books for adults and poetry, and she also works as a translator and reviewer. Among her best-known works is the large chronicle about the fictive town of Tulavall on the south coast of Finland, which she has described in different times and from the point of view of different people, in more than a dozen books. She has also written several self-biographical works (some together with her sister Heddi), as well as novels with a heroine based on her daughter. In 1957, she married the painter and sculptor Carl-Gustaf Lilius, and they were married until his death in 1998.
