''Lilac'' (, stylized in all caps) is the fifth studio album by South Korean singer-songwriter IU. It was released on March 25, 2021, through Edam Entertainment. The album was certified platinum by the Korean Music Content Association. Background and conception On September 8, 2020, IU uploaded a video of herself as Lee Ji-dong, her alter-ego, working for Edam Entertainment on her official YouTube channel, revealing that she would be releasing a studio album by the end of the year. In an interview with ''GQ Korea'' in November 2020, she shared that the release had been scheduled for 2021. On January 11, 2021, her label Edam Entertainment announced that she would return with a pre-release single, a cheerful and energetic pop song titled "Celebrity", on January 27. IU (singer)
Lee Ji-eun (; born May 16, 1993), also known by her stage name IU (), is a South Korean singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. She signed with LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment) in 2007 as a trainee and debuted as a singer at the age of fifteen with her first extended play (EP) ''Lost and Found'' (2008). ''Modern Times'' is the third studio album by South Korean singer-songwriter IU (singer), IU. It was released on October 8, 2013, via LOEN Entertainment under its imprint List of LOEN Entertainment labels#LOEN Tree, LOEN Tree. Under the theme of "French Black", the album departs from the singer's girlish image which established her as the "Nation's Sweetheart", by attempting various styles of music such as Swing music, swing, jazz, and bossa nova. "You & I" (Korean: 너랑 나; RR: ''Neorang Na'') is a song recorded in Korean and Japanese by South Korean singer IU from her second Korean-language studio album ''Last Fantasy'' (2011). City Pop
is a loosely defined form of Japanese pop music that emerged in the late 1970s and peaked in the 1980s.
