Lila Newman
Lila Newman (born in New York City, New York) is an American actress, writer, comedian, humorist, singer and musician. She is known for her work on ''Alpha House'' (2014) written by Garry Trudeau, playing opposite John Goodman and Julie White. From 2013 - 2017, Lila regularly contributed comedy writing to '' A Prairie Home Companion''—often receiving on-air credits for work—and has appeared on the show twice as part of the Royal Academy of Radio Actors. Lila contributed comedy sketches to Live From Here on American Public Media, hosted by Chris Thile. Since Summer 2017, Lila has also been collaborating as a writer and voice actor with Radiotopia's The Truth (podcast). She holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago, where she was a member of Off Off Campus. She also has an MFA from Drama Centre London. Off-Off Campus
Off-Off Campus is an improvisational and sketch comedy group at the University of Chicago. It was founded in 1986 by The Second City co-founder Bernie Sahlins, who is also an alumnus of the University of Chicago. Off-Off Campus stems from a tradition of improv comedy at the University of Chicago. In the early 1950s, improv as it is known today was invented on the University of Chicago campus at the Woodlawn Tap. In 1959, the group, called the Compass Players, went on to form The Second City. In 1986, Bernie Sahlins returned to the U of C in order to re-establish improv and sketch comedy on the south side of Chicago. The first generation of Off-Off Campus was trained by Sahlins, and the group continues to build on the foundation he created. Aurore Dolores Daigle Nichols (March 8, 1893 – November 13, 1951) was a pioneering sound effects artist in American radio broadcasting. Drama Centre London (often abbreviated as Drama Centre) was a British drama school in King's Cross, London, where it moved in 2011 after a major reshaping of the University of the Arts London.
