Like Gods Of The Sun
''Like Gods of the Sun'' is the fourth album by My Dying Bride released in 1996, and the last album by the band to feature Rick Miah, who left the band in 1997, on drums and Martin Powell on keyboards and violins. Like its predecessor ''The Angel and the Dark River'' this album has completely clean vocals. A video was filmed for "For You" and appears on the VHS and DVD of For Darkest Eyes. Singer Aaron Stainthorpe has stated many times that this is his favorite MDB album. The track "A Kiss To Remember" has become a regular in the band's live setlist. The song "For My Fallen Angel" is strictly an orchestral composition with sections of violin and synth, and has an extract from a poem called Venus and Adonis by the English poet and playwright William Shakespeare. The Japanese and limited digipak editions of the album feature the bonus remix "It Will Come (Nightmare Mix)". My Dying Bride are an English doom metal band formed in Bradford. Since their inception in 1990, they have released 13 studio albums, three EPs, one demo, one box set, four compilation albums, one live album, and one live CD/DVD release. Along with Anathema and Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride were a forerunner of the death doom metal and gothic metal genres during the early 1990s. These bands comprise "The Peaceville Three" as all were signed to Peaceville Records at the time. History Early years (1990–1992) My Dying Bride was formed in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, in June 1990, after guitarist Andrew Craighan and drummer Rick Miah co-formed the band after they had split from Abiosis, joining vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe and guitarist Calvin Robertshaw while ending Abiosis. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Andrew Craighan
Andrew Craighan (born 18 July 1970) is one of My Dying Bride's founding guitarists. Along with Aaron Stainthorpe Aaron Stainthorpe (born 12 November 1968) is an English singer who is the lead vocalist for doom metal band My Dying Bride. In December 2005, it was announced that Stainthorpe would lend his voice and some lyrics to a song with Sarah Jezebel ..., they are the only original members of the band still in the lineup. He played the guitar from 1989 to 1990 in the band Abiosis. On My Dying Bride's official website he lists his favourite My Dying Bride album as 1999's '' The Light at the End of the World''. Portishead () is an English band formed in 1991 in Bristol. The band is named after Portishead, Somerset, eight miles west of Bristol, along the coast.
