Eluanbi Lighthouse 01
Cape Eluanbi or Oluanpi, also known by other names, is the southernmost point on the island of Taiwan. It is located in within the Hengchun Township in Pingtung County. Names ''Éluánbí'' is the pinyin romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of its Chinese name These characters literally mean "Goose Bell Nose", but actually transcribe the local Hokkien pronunciation ''Gô-lôan'', used as a transliteration of the Paiwan ' ("sail"). This may be a reference to nearby Sail Rock. The "nose" in the name is a dialectical term for a cape, as in nearby Cape Maobitou. Under the Qing, it was sometimes known as "Linhaishan". Under Japanese rule, the cape was known as or Garanbi from the Japanese pronunciation of characters in Eluanbi. Shimen District
Shimen District (), also known as Sekimon, is a sparsely populated rural District (Taiwan), district in the northern part of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan. It is part of the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area and includes Taiwan's northernmost point, Cape Fugui. History While known to earlier explorers, including the Dutch, the area was first explicitly mentioned in Chinese annals in 1694 as ''Shimenshan'' (). During the Taiwan under Japanese rule, period of Imperial Japanese rule, Shimen was called ''Sekimon'' Village , and was governed under Tansui District of Taihoku Prefecture. Fangyuan Lighthouse
The Fangyuan Lighthouse () is a lighthouse in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County, Taiwan. History The lighthouse was built in 1983 at the eastern side of Wanggong Fishing Port to ensure the safety of vessels moving around the port. Architecture The octagonal lighthouse is painted in black and white vertical bands and stands up to 35.7 meters. The tower was constructed with reinforced concrete and equipped with fourth class electric lamp, which generated 28,000 candlepower light for as far as 16.6 nautical miles. Wuqi District
Wuqi District () is a coastal suburban district in southern Taichung, Taiwan. The Port of Taichung is located in Wuqi District. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Wuqi was organized as an urban township of Taichung County. Qingshui District
Qingshui District (), also spelled as Chingshui District, is a coastal suburban district in western Taichung City, Taiwan. Geography Qingshui is located on the Qingshui Plain of Taiwan. It borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, the Dajia River to the north, and the Dadu Plateau to the east. Qingshui shares borders with Da'an, Dajia, and Waipu to the north, Shengang to the east, and Wuqi and Shalu to the south. History The earliest evidence of humans living in this area is from 4000 years ago in the Neolithic Age. The archaeological site is preserved in the Niumatou Site. Gaomei Lighthouse
The Gaomei Lighthouse () is a lighthouse in Qingshui District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The lighthouse was originally built in 1967, but its operation was stopped in 1982 when the lighting equipment was moved to the lighthouse in Port of Taichung. Years later, the lighthouse underwent renovation led by Maritime and Port Bureau. The lighthouse was officially opened to tourists on 27 September 2014, managed by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Taoyuan () is a special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan) located in northwestern Taiwan, neighboring New Taipei City to the north-east, Yilan County, Taiwan, Yilan County to the south-east, and Hsinchu County to the south-west. Guanyin District
Guanyin District () is a rural, coastal district in western Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Guanyin is the name of a Buddhist goddess. History Guanyin was originally named as Shiguanyin during the Qing Dynasty rule. It was renamed to Guanyin in 1920 during the Japanese rule. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Guanyin was reestablished as a township of Taoyuan County. Baishajia Lighthouse
The Baishajia Lighthouse or Paisha Chia Lighthouse () is a lighthouse in Guanyin District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan. History The lighthouse was established in 1901 as the third lighthouse built in Taiwan under Japanese rule with an original height of 38 meters. However, the upper portion was destroyed during World War II. After the war, the tower was repaired to its current height. In March 2013, it was announced that the lighthouse would be opened for tourists starting September 2013. Architecture The lighthouse is a white round brick structure stands at 27.7 meters in height. Gongliao District
Gongliao District (; originally ) is a rural district in the eastern part of New Taipei City, Taiwan. It is the easternmost district on the main island of Taiwan and at its easternmost tip is Cape Santiago.
