An ion-propelled aircraft or ionocraft is an aircraft that uses electrohydrodynamics (EHD) to provide lift or thrust in the air without requiring combustion or moving parts. Current designs do not produce sufficient thrust for manned flight or useful loads. Lifter (band)
Lifter was an American grunge band from Los Angeles, California. They are best known for their minor hit single "402", and more recently for the band's bassist Jeffrey Sebelia. Allmusic described the band as "the forgotten heroes of 90's teenage angst". History 1992–1994: Independent releases Lifter was formed by Jeffrey Sebelia and Mike Coulter, who met at a rehabilitation centre. After they both left, they added John Rozas, who Coulter had worked with six years before, and the band was formed. They then began performing around the Silverlake area of Los Angeles. Lifter Puller
Lifter Puller, or LFTR PLLR, was an American indie rock band from the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Twin Cities and the Boston area between 1994 and 2000. Their music is considered innovative, with its angular riffs and a synth-infused sound that predated the '80s revival fads of the early 2000s. Arguably, however, the band is most known for frontman Craig Finn, Craig Finn's elaborate lyrics, which often relied upon an established universe of drug-addled coeds, cash-strapped nightclub proprietors, murdered ravers and other nostalgic excursions in Minneapolis and Boston. The band released three LP album, LPs and an Extended play, EP before breaking up in the summer of 2000. Edgewater (band)
Edgewater was a five-piece rock band from the Dallas, Texas area that began in 1997. The band's style was not aimed to fit into any particular genre. According to drummer Jeremy Rees, "Our music is like our band name. It's got that edge to it and it's crunchy and really thick in the hardest places, but the overlays and melodies flow like water over the top." Biography Formation and self-titled album: 1997–2000 In March 1997, Matt Moseman, Cameron Woolf, Adam Leydig, and Christopher Borders formed Edgewater. The band began as a four-piece with Moseman handling both vocals and playing rhythm guitar, with Leydig as the lead guitarist, Borders on drums, and Woolf playing bass. In March 1998, Micah Creel and Jeremy Rees joined, replacing Borders on drums. The Brotherhood of Mutants, also known as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and the Brotherhood, is a team of comic book mutant supervillains in Marvel Comics' universe who are devoted to mutant superiority over normal humans. The liquid fluoride thorium reactor (LFTR; often pronounced ''lifter'') is a type of molten salt reactor. LFTRs use the thorium fuel cycle with a fluoride-based, molten, liquid salt for fuel. In a typical design, the liquid is pumped between a critical core and an external heat exchanger where the heat is transferred to a nonradioactive secondary salt. The secondary salt then transfers its heat to a steam turbine or closed-cycle gas turbine. Molten-salt-fueled reactors (MSRs) supply the nuclear fuel mixed into a molten salt. They should not be confused with designs that use a molten salt for ''cooling'' only (fluoride high-temperature reactors, FHRs) and still have a solid fuel. Tappet
A tappet is most commonly a component in an internal combustion engine which converts the rotating motion of the camshaft into linear motion of the valves, either directly or indirectly. An earlier use of the term was for part of the valve gear in beam engines beginning in 1715.
