"Lifted" is a song by South Korean rapper, singer and songwriter CL. It was released as her debut American single on August 19, 2016. Background The song was written by CL, Asher Roth, and Teddy Park, with the production being handled by the latter. It heavily samples the song "Method Man" by Wu-Tang Clan. Critical reception Colette Bennett of ''The Daily Dot'' said "something about he songseems too simple" and went on to say that "CL's rapping is strong as usual" and "the song has a chill, reggae-inspired vibe". ''Billboard''s Tamar Herman stated that the song "diverges sharply from CL's image as one of South Korea's most prominent female rappers and eschews her typical aggressive style. CL (rapper)
Lee Chae-rin (born February 26, 1991), better known by her stage name CL, is a South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she spent much of her early life in Japan and France. CL trained at JYP Entertainment before joining YG Entertainment at the age of fifteen. She debuted and rose to fame as a member of the girl group 2NE1 in 2009, which went on to become one of the best-selling girl groups of all-time. As a solo artist, CL made her debut with the single "The Baddest Female" in May 2013 and released the solo track " MTBD" in February 2014 as part of 2NE1's final studio album '' Crush''. The Hello Bitches Tour (stylized as Hello Bi+ches Tour) was the debut concert tour of South Korean singer CL. The tour visited nine cities in 2016 in the United States and Canada, kicking off in New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on October 29 and concluding in Toronto at the Sound Academy on November 14.
