Asaf Lifshitz
Asaf Lifshitz ( he, אסף ליפשיץ; born 1942) is an Israeli sculptor. Many of his statues decorate different central places all over Israel, from Metula in the north to Beer Sheva in the south. Early life Lifshitz was born in 1942 in Kibbutz Ma'oz Haim. He is the son of Israel (Srulik) anLea Lifshitzof Shershevsky. He studied at the local school of Kibbutz Ma'oz Haim and served as a tankist at the Israeli Armored Corps of the IDF. Many members of the Lifshitz family are engaged in the arts of sculpture, painting, design, etc. Asaf is the cousin of the painter Uri Lifshitz. The author Dvora Omer is a sister of Asaf from his mother's side. Asaf worked as a metalworker in Kibbutz Ma'oz Haim and has been sculpting since his youth. Ilya Lifshitz
Ilya Mikhailovich Lifshitz (russian: Илья́ Миха́йлович Ли́фшиц; January 13, 1917 – October 23, 1982) was a leading Soviet theoretical physicist, brother of Evgeny Lifshitz. He is known for his works in solid state physics, electron theory of metals, disordered systems, and the theory of polymers. Work Ilya Lifshitz was born into a Ukrainian Jewish family in Kharkov, Kharkov Governorate, Russian Empire (now Kharkiv, Ukraine). Together with Arnold Kosevich, in 1954 Lifshitz established the connection between the oscillation of magnetic characteristics of metals and the form of an electronic surface of Fermi ( Lifshitz–Kosevich formula) from de Haas–van Alphen experiments. Mikhail Aleksandrovich Lifshitz (russian: Михаи́л Алекса́ндрович Ли́фшиц; 23 July 1905 in Melitopol (Taurida Governorate, now Zaporizhzhia Oblast of Ukraine) – 20 September 1983 in Moscow) was a Soviet Marxian literary critic and philosopher of art who had a long and controversial career in the former Soviet Union. In the 1930s, he strongly influenced Marxist views on aesthetics while being a close associate of György Lukács. He also published important compilations of early Marxist literature on the role of art. In 1975, he was elected as a full member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Dovid Lifshitz
Rabbi Dovid Lifshitz (1906–1993) was a distinguished Rosh yeshiva in the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) for almost fifty years. He was appointed upon the invitation of Rabbi Samuel Belkin in 1944. He was also known as the "Suvalker Rav", due to his previous position as the Rabbi of the European town of Suvalk, which he maintained until its capture by the Nazis in 1940. Some of his lectures on the Talmud were later compiled and published as "Shiurei Rav Dovid Lifshitz". Chava Lifshitz
Chava Lifshitz (March 26, 1936 – March 1, 2005), née Eva Wolf, was an Austrian-Israeli chemist who was best known for her contributions to mass spectrometry and the gas-phase chemistry of ions. She was awarded the Israel Chemical Society Prize for Outstanding Scientist in 2003. Early life and education Lifshitz was born Eva Wolf in Vienna. She was born to an upper middle class family. Nechama Lifshitz (Russian: Нехама Юделевна Лифшиц, Hebrew: נחמה ליפשיץ) (born 1927 in Kaunas, Lithuania, died 2017 in Tel Aviv, Israel) was a Yiddish language and later Hebrew language soprano and art song performer who came to be a key representative of Soviet Jewish culture in the 1950s and 1960s.
