Lifeforms (single)
"Lifeforms" is a song by British electronic music group The Future Sound of London, released as the second single from their 1994 album, '' Lifeforms''. Vocals on the single were performed by Elizabeth Fraser of the Cocteau Twins. The original version of "Lifeforms" from the album of the same name is present as "Path 3", while the album track "Life Form Ends" from the album can be heard in somewhat remixed form as "Path 5". A 2:50 edit of "Path 4" was used as a radio edit and for the promotional video for the single. It is this version that appears on the commercial compilation album The Best... Album in the World...Ever! (vol 1). In 1995, Fraser called the collaboration "disappointing". She said, "I sang my heart out for eleven fucking hours on that record and all that is on it is something that sounds like a sample. It was good, but it could have been brilliant." The Future Sound of London (often abbreviated FSOL) is a British electronic music duo composed of Garry Cobain and Brian Dougans. They have been described as a "boundary-pushing" electronic act, covering techno, ambient, house music, trip hop, psychedelia, and dub. While keeping an enigmatic image and releasing music under many aliases, the band found commercial success with singles "Papua New Guinea" (1991), "Cascade" (1993), and albums '' Lifeforms'' (1994) and ''Dead Cities'' (1996). Talvin Singh OBE (born 1970) is an English musician, producer, and composer. A tabla player, he is known for creating an innovative fusion of Indian classical music and drum and bass. ''Lifeforms'' is the second studio album by British electronica group The Future Sound of London. The album was released on 23 May 1994 by Virgin Records and later by Astralwerks. Background The Future Sound of London began work on the album around the same time as they were finishing ''Tales of Ephidrina'', and the more complex, ambient direction they were taking resulted in ''Lifeforms''. The artwork also progressed from previous works, with soon-to-be familiar images of the "Witch Girl" Sheuneen Ta and the "Spike" computer model having been previously used on the group's ''Cascade'' EP.
