The Life Saving Medal ( vi, Nhân-Dũng Bội-Tinh) was a medal awarded by the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) during the years of the Vietnam War. It was awarded, or posthumously awarded, to military personnel of all grades, government officials and civilians who exhibited extreme bravery in risking their lives to rescue other people in distress. Vietnam War
The Vietnam War (also known by other names) was a conflict in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955 to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. Hazardous Service Medal
The Hazardous Service Medal ( vi, Ưu-Dũng Bội-Tinh) was a single-grade decoration awarded by South Vietnam. Established in 1964, the medal was awarded to military personnel by the Chief of the Joint General Staff, Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces. The medal could be awarded posthumously and also to members of allied military forces. Criteria The Hazardous Service Medal was awarded to military personnel who met one of the following requirements: *Displayed heroism in the protection of government properties or the life of government officials. *Endured a long period of danger to accomplish a strategic mission in a remote area under constant enemy threat. *Proven enthusiasm and determination in the accomplishment of a relatively dangerous mission not involving direct combat participation. The Loyalty Medal ( vi, Trung-Chánh Bội-Tinh) was a single-grade decoration awarded by South Vietnam. Established in 1964, the medal was awarded to South Vietnamese citizens by the Chief of the Joint General Staff, Republic of Vietnam Military Forces. The medal could be awarded posthumously. Criteria The Loyalty Medal was awarded to Vietnamese citizens who had shown proven loyalty to the "National Cause" by denouncing or working to counter, what were deemed by the South Vietnamese government to be, subversive activities that were disruptive to security and order. Rex Clark
Rex Clark (14 September 1935 — 19 October 1978) was an officer of the Australian Army and a collector of orders, decorations and medals as well as military history books and ephemera. Clark gained notoriety due to his service as a mercenary in foreign wars while on leave from the Australian Army. He was appointed Officer of the Order of Saint John and received Imperial and Australian awards for Vietnam service and long service. He was awarded a number of foreign awards although during his lifetime such awards were not officially recognised by Australia. The Gold Lifesaving Medal and Silver Lifesaving Medal are U.S. decorations issued by the United States Coast Guard. The awards were established by Act of Congress, 20 June 1874; later authorized by .
