Lieve Wierinck (born 3 July 1957 in Leuven) is a Belgian politician who served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats (Open Vld), which sits in the ALDE Group, from 2016 until 2019. She succeeded Philippe De Backer, who became Secretary of State in the Michel Government. In the European Parliament, Wierinck was member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and of the delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ten Troost Kerk (''Church of Our Lady of Consolation''), simply known as the ''Troostkerk'', is a basilica in Vilvoorde, Belgium. The history of the church and its Carmelite monastery (the oldest in Western Europe) go back 800 years. It was consecrated as a basilica on May 7, 2006 by Cardinal Godfried Danneels. Elevation to Basilica Owing to its important role as a pilgrimage destination, the Carmel has a particular significance to the city of Vilvoorde. The ''Troostkermis'' or annual fair and holiday of the city of Vilvoorde is still celebrated today, starting on the third Sunday after Easter. The Onze Lieve Vrouweplein ("Square of Our Lady"; ; li, Slevrouweplein ) is a square in the historic center of Maastricht, the Netherlands. The square is situated south of Maastricht's pedestrianised shopping district. Well known for its many café terraces, it is a popular place with tourists and local people alike. The Onze Lieve Vrouweplein was originally named ''Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerkhof'', because it was the churchyard of the Basilica of Our Lady and the neighbouring parish church of Saint Nicholas (demolished in 1838). Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder (OLHOS; en, Our Lord in the Attic) is a 17th-century canal house, house church, and museum in the city center of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The Catholic Church was built on the top three floors of the canal house during the 1660s. It is an important example of a "schuilkerk", or "clandestine church" in which Catholics and other religious dissenters from the seventeenth century Dutch Reformed Church, unable to worship in public, held services. The church has been open as a museum since 28 April 1888, and has 85,000 visitors annually. Julius Theodoor Hugo Uiterloo (December 13, 1934 – November 15, 1975), better known by his stage-name Lieve Hugo and his nickname Iko, was a Surinamese singer. He was one of the pioneers of the kaseko-genre; hence his other nickname ''King of Kaseko''. Lieve Geelvinck
Lieve Geelvinck (28 May 1676 – 22 August 1743) was the son of Joan Geelvinck and grandson of Cornelis Geelvinck and, following them into the vroedschap, he became administrator of the Dutch East India Company and member of the Council of State. He became mayor of Amsterdam for the first time in 1720. Through political marriage alliances, the Geelvinck family had already played an important role the council of Amsterdam for years on end, but in the first half of the 18th century all but one or two of the city's mayors were related to each other. Saint Godelieve (also known as Godeleva, Godeliève, and Godelina; nl, Sint-Godelieve) ( 10526 July 1070) is a Flemish saint. She behaved with charity & gentleness to all, accepting an arranged marriage as was the custom, but her husband and family turned out to be abusive. Eventually he had her strangled by his servants. Every year, on the Sunday following 5 July, a procession celebrating Saint Godelieve takes place in Gistel. Hagiography Tradition, as recorded in her ''Vita'', states that she was pious as a young girl, and became much sought after by suitors as a beautiful young woman. Godelieve, however, wanted to become a nun. Lieve Slegers (born 6 April 1965 in Turnhout, Flanders) is a former long-distance runner from Belgium, who won the Rotterdam Marathon on 28 April 1996 clocking 2:28:06. She represented her native country at the 1988 Summer Olympics in the women's 10,000 metres, where she was eliminated in the qualifying heats. Slegers also competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics. She was the 1995 winner of the 20 km of Brussels. She was also a cross country runner – Slegers won the Cross Internacional de Venta de Baños in 1989.
