Koninklijke Lierse Sportkring (), often simply known as Lierse, was a Belgian professional football club from the city of Lier in the Antwerp province. Lierse have won four championship titles and two Belgian Cups. Lierse was one of the six Belgian clubs to have played in the UEFA Champions League group stage, the other being Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Genk, Standard Liège and KAA Gent. The club was founded in 1906 and they first promoted to the first division in 1927–28. Lierse was successful in the first division until the end of World War II, winning two titles and finishing only four times outside the top five. At the end of the 1947–48 season, they were relegated to the second division. The 2010–11 season of the Belgian Pro League (also known as ''Jupiler Pro League'' for sponsorship reasons) is the 108th season of top-tier football in Belgium. It began on 30 July 2010 with the first match of the regular season and ended in May 2011 with the last matches of the playoff rounds. Anderlecht were the defending champions. 2006–07 Belgian First Division
The 2006–07 season of the Belgian First Division began on July 28, 2006, and concluded on May 19, 2007. The championship was decided in the penultimate round on May 12, 2007, when Anderlecht moved five points clear of runners-up Genk to retain the title and win their 29th League Championship. At the other end of the table, the struggle to avoid automatic relegation went on until the final round, and it was Lierse who eventually prevailed. Having spent the entire season at the bottom of the standings and only just managing to close an eleven-point gap up to 17th, the Lier side won their last game to climb past Beveren and send the latter down to the Second Division. K Lyra-Lierse Berlaar
K. Lyra-Lierse (full official name at the Royal Belgian Football Association: K. Lyra-Lierse Berlaar), formerly known as K. Lyra T.S.V., is a Belgian association football club team from Lier that was created in 1972 to continue the former team Koninklijke Lyra that merged in the same year with another team (Koninklijke Lierse Sportkring). The team colours are yellow-black at home and red-white for away games. In 2018, K. Lierse S.K. went bankrupt and negotiations between Lyra and fans of Lierse took place to create a club where the soul and spirit of both Lierse and Lyra would be represented. Also the youth teams of Lierse were integrated into the structure of K. Lyra-Lierse. To highlight this collaboration the name was changed to K. Bernard Voorhoof
Bernard Voorhoof (10 May 1910 – 18 February 1974) was a Belgian footballer, for 34 years the Belgium national team top scorer with 30 goals in 61 matches. He was joined by Paul Van Himst in 1972 who needed 81 matches to score the same number of goals. Both are now surpassed by Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard. Career He started his career at Lierse SK and stayed there for 21 years. With Lierse, he scored 350 goals in 529 matches and won 2 Belgian First Division Titles and a third unofficial title in the shortened 1940−41 season. He also played one season with R.R.F.C. Montegnée before retiring in 1949, age 39. He was part of Belgium's team at the 1928 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches.
