Bill Lienhard
William Barner Lienhard (January 14, 1930 – February 8, 2022) was an American basketball player who competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics. Lienhard was born in Slaton, Texas Slaton is a city in Lubbock County, Texas, United States founded by German immigrants. Slaton was the westernmost German settlement in Texas. The population was 6,121 at the 2010 census. Slaton is part of the Lubbock Metropolitan Statistic .... He went to college at the University of Kansas, where he was a member of the 1952 NCAA Champion basketball team. He was then part of the American Olympic basketball team, which won the gold medal. He played a total of five matches during the Summer Games in Helsinki. After the Olympics, he joined the Air Force, where he continued to play basketball. Upon leaving the Air Force, he retired from the sport and lived as a banker in Kansas. Lienhard died on February 8, 2022, at the age of 92. Pepe Lienhard (born Peter Rudolf Lienhard; 23 March 1946 in Lenzburg) is a Swiss bandleader and musician. Life Lienhard started a band called "The College Stompers" while he was still in school. He studied law at university but left without a degree in 1969 and founded a professional big band sextet, the Pepe Lienhard Band, with which he released numerous albums. Their first success came with "Sheila Baby". The group came sixth place at the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 with the song "Swiss Lady". The band accompanied Udo Jürgens on his tours from 1982 and made several appearances with other stars such as Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra. In a collaboration with the trio of sibling composers Diego Baldenweg with Nora Baldenweg and Lionel Baldenweg, he played the saxophone parts for the score to Rolf Lyssy's feature film "Die Letzte Pointe" (The Final Touch). Bob Lienhard (April 2, 1948 – September 22, 2018) was an American basketball player for University of Georgia. He became the school's all-time leading rebounder with 1,116 career rebounds. He also holds the single season record with 396 rebounds, as well as the single game record with 32 rebounds. Lienhard was drafted by the National Basketball Association's Phoenix Suns in the 1970 NBA draft (10th pick of the 4th round, 61st overall). Jacob Lienhard was an officer in the United States Marine Corps during World War I. He would be awarded the Navy Cross and the Distinguished Service Cross. His Navy Cross citation reads: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy Cross to Second Lieutenant Jacob Lienhard (MCSN: 0-557), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 17th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near St. Etienne, France, 4 October 1918. Fredy Lienhard, Sr. (born 14 September 1947 in Herisau) is a Swiss racing driver. In 1968 Lienhard founded Lista Racing and throughout the 1970s and 1980s he competed in Formula Vee and Formula Two. In 1993 and 1994 he moved to sports car racing competing in a Lola Can-Am car in Interserie division 2. In 1995 he acquired a Ferrari 333 SP and began racing in the European Sportscar Championship and IMSA GT Championship with teammate Didier Theys, winning the 24 Hours of Zolder in 1997. He moved to the American Le Mans Series in 1999. In 2002 he moved to the Rolex Sports Car Series SRP class with a new Judd powered Dallara SP1 and won the 2002 24 Hours of Daytona with teammates Theys, Mauro Baldi and Max Papis. In 2003 he competed in only two races due to a busy business schedule but began racing more regularly again in 2006 and 2007 competing in select ALMS and Le Mans Series races and continued to do so in 2008.
