Capaccio Paestum (formerly only Capaccio) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. The ruins of the ancient Greek city of Paestum lie within borders of the ''comune''. History Geography Located in northern Cilento, near the mouth of Sele, Capaccio is a hill town surrounded by a plain in which resides almost all of the hamlets (''frazioni'') and the majority of the population, mostly concentrated at Capaccio Scalo, seat of the train station. The municipality borders with Agropoli, Albanella, Cicerale, Eboli, Giungano, Roccadaspide and Trentinara. Cilentan Coast
The Cilento Coast (Italian: ''Costiera Cilentana'') is an Italian stretch of coastline in Cilento, on the southern side of the Province of Salerno. It is situated between the gulfs of Salerno and Policastro, extending from the municipalities of Capaccio-Paestum in the north-west, to Sapri in the south-east. Albanella
Albanella is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. It is located 51 kilometers from the city of Salerno. The town slogan is , which translates to "the land of the olive trees" in English. Olive oil is one of the principal products of the town. Geography The town is located halfway between Monti Alburni and the Gulf of Salerno, on a hill commanding the plain of the Sele River. The Salerno - Costa d'Amalfi Airport , located in the municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano and close to Bellizzi, is an airport in southern Italy, in Salerno city and the west coastal areas of Amalfi to the north and Cilento to the south. It is also commonly known as ''Salerno-Pontecagnano Airport''. History The airport was founded in 1926 by Aeronautica Militare, Italy's military air force.
