Libya At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Libya competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's eleventh appearance at the Olympics since its debut at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo; seven of them were represented by the Libyan athletes under the name ''Libyan Arab Jamahiriya''. Libyan Olympic Committee sent a total of seven athletes, six men and one woman, to compete in six sports at the Games; all of them made their Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro. Notable Libyan athletes were breaststroke swimmer Daniah Hagul, the lone female and the youngest of the team (aged 17), and marathon runner Mohamed Fuad Hrezi, who was awarded the honor of carrying the Libyan flag in the opening ceremony. Yeldos Smetov ( kz, Елдос Бахтыбайұлы Сметов, ''Eldos Bahtybaiūly Smetov''; born 9 September 1992) is a Kazakh judoka who competes in the under 60 kg weight division. Taekwondo At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's 58 Kg
The men's 58 kg competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 17 August, at the Carioca Arena 3. Competition format The main bracket consisted of a single elimination tournament, culminating in the gold medal match. The top eight athletes in each event were seeded so as not to face each other in the preliminary round. The remainder of the qualified athletes were drawn randomly on 15 August 2016. Two bronze medals were awarded at the Taekwondo competitions. A repechage was used to determine the bronze medal winners. Every competitor who lost to one of the two finalists competed in the repechage, another single-elimination competition.
