Libertyville is one of two commuter railroad stations on Metra's Milwaukee District North Line in Libertyville, Illinois. The station is officially located on 200 West Lake Street near Milwaukee Avenue (Chicago), Milwaukee Avenue (Illinois Route 21, IL 21), is away from Chicago Union Station, the southern terminus of the line, and serves commuters between Union Station and Fox Lake, Illinois. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Libertyville is in zone 4. As of 2018, Libertyville is the 65th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 801 weekday boardings. As of February 15, 2024, Libertyville is served by 37 trains (17 inbound, 20 outbound) on weekdays, by 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Saturdays, and by all 18 trains (nine in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Illinois Route 21 (IL 21) is an arterial north–south state highway in northeastern Illinois. It runs from Illinois Route 43 (Harlem Avenue) in Niles to U.S. Route 41 (Skokie Highway) north of Gurnee.
