Liberty County School District (Georgia)
The Liberty County School District, or the Liberty County School System (LCSS), is a public school district in Liberty County, Georgia, United States, based in Hinesville. It serves the communities of Allenhurst, Flemington, Gumbranch, Hinesville, Midway, Riceboro, and Walthourville. It is the designated school district for grades K-12 for the county, except parts in Fort Stewart. Fort Stewart has the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) as its local school district, for the elementary level. Students at the secondary level on Fort Stewart attend public schools operated by county school districts. Georgia Interscholastic Association
The Georgia Interscholastic Association (GIA), formed in 1948, was a sports league of high schools serving African Americans in Georgia. It merged into the Georgia High School Association with desegregation in 1970. '' As If We Were Ghosts'' is a documentary film made about the league and its athletes. Bryan Christopher Sears (born March 28, 1982) is an American sprinter who specializes in the 100 meters and 200 metres. He participated in the 1999 World Youth Championships in Athletics, winning silver and bronze, respectively, over these distances. Tony Royster Jr. (born October 9, 1984, in Nuremberg, Germany) is an American drummer. He was raised in Hinesville, Georgia and is a 2002 graduate of Liberty County High School. His father began to teach him how to play the drums at the age of three. He is the son of Tony Sr. and Gayle Royster, and has one brother, Calvin Royster. All still reside in Hinesville, GA. Davion De'Monte Earl Mitchell (born September 5, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Auburn Tigers and the Baylor Bears. He was taken ninth overall in the 2021 NBA draft by the Kings. Jordan Tyler McRae (born March 28, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for the Tennessee Volunteers, and was drafted 58th overall in the 2014 NBA draft, by the San Antonio Spurs. He is a 1.96 m (6'5") tall shooting guard-small forward. Raekwon McMillan (born November 17, 1995) is an American football linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). Liberty County is a county in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population is 65,256. The county seat is Hinesville. Liberty County is part of the Hinesville, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Savannah-Hinesville- Statesboro, Georgia Combined Statistical Area.
