''Liberty Belle and the Black Diamond Express'', the fourth album by The Go-Betweens, was released in March 1986 in the UK on Beggars Banquet Records, the record label that would release the remainder of the original group's LPs through their break-up in 1989. The album was recorded at Berry Street Studios in London, England. The original release consisted of ten songs. The UK CD release in 1986 (BEGA 72) had the original ten tracks, plus two bonus tracks: "The Life At Hand" and "Little Joe". The Liberty Belle is the name of three superheroines. Two are from DC Comics: Libby Lawrence and Jesse Chambers, and the other is from Charlton Comics: Caroline Dean. DC Comics Libby Lawrence The first Liberty Belle was Libby Lawrence. Her powers of enhanced speed, strength, and stamina were linked to the ringing of the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Early in her mystery-woman career, she had an arrangement with Tom Revere, a guard at the Liberty Bell. When she signaled him, he would ring the bell for her and trigger her powers. In her later years, after decades of super-strength many began to theorize about the nature of her powers. The Gateway Clipper Fleet, founded by John E. Connelly, is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based fleet of riverboats. The fleet cruises the three rivers of Pittsburgh - the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio. The fleet is named after the city of Pittsburgh, which in earlier times was known as the "Gateway to the West". The original riverboat was ''Gateway Clipper'', which set sail in 1958. By the mid-1960s, the fleet was composed of three craft, ''Gateway Clipper'', ''Party Liner'', and ''Good Ship Lollipop''. In 1999 it added its fifth ship. The ''Liberty Belle'' (formerly ''Richard F. Irvine'') is a steam-powered riverboat ride vehicle at Rivers of America, Walt Disney World. The Philadelphia Liberty Belles are a team of the Women's Football Alliance which began play for its inaugural 2009 season. Home games are played on the campus of Wissahickon High School in Ambler, Pennsylvania. The Liberty Belles are named in honor of a team which played in the National Women's Football Association and Independent Women's Football League from 2001 to 2004 (and in fact, won the NWFA's inaugural 2001 championship).
