Libertador General San Martín is a department located on the north eastern border of Chaco Province in Argentina. The provincial subdivision has a population of about 54,500 inhabitants in an area of 7,800 km², and its capital city is General José de San Martín, which is located around 1,125 km from the Capital federal. Departments ( es, departamentos) form the second level of administrative division (below the provinces), and are subdivided in municipalities.
