Liberal South East European Network
The Liberal South East European Network (LIBSEEN) is a South East European alliance of liberal parties and think tanks in the region, founded in Skopje, North Macedonia, in 2008. Its main initiative is to gather liberal parties of Southeastern Europe together and implement liberal policies in their respective countries. Most member organizations of LIBSEEN are also members of Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party (ALDE). Novum Institute
Novum ( Latin for ''new thing'') is a term used by science fiction scholar Darko Suvin and others to describe the scientifically plausible innovations used by science fiction narratives. Origin Suvin learned the term from Ernst Bloch, whose work is cited frequently in ''Metamorphoses of Science Fiction''. Suvin argues that the genre of science fiction is distinguished from fantasy by the story being driven by a novum validated by logic he calls cognitive estrangement. This means that the hypothetical "new thing" which the story is about can be imagined to exist by scientific means rather than by magic, i.e., by the ''factual reporting of fictions'' and by relating them in a plausible way to reality. Modern Centre Party
The Modern Centre Party ( sl, Stranka modernega centra, SMC) was a social-liberal political party in Slovenia led by Minister of Economical Development and Technology Zdravko Počivalšek, who succeeded former Prime Minister and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Miro Cerar as the party president. It formed in 2014 and merged with Economic Active Party in 2021, to form a party Concretely. History The party was established during the founding congress on 2 June 2014 as the ''Party of Miro Cerar'' (''Stranka Mira Cerarja'', SMC). The Civic Platform ( sr, Грађанска платформа, Građanska platforma, GP) is a conservative-liberal political organization in Serbia. It was formed in 2017, by former members of the Enough is Enough (DJB) organization. It had two MPs from its foundation until the 2020 parliamentary election, which it boycotted. It was the founding member of the Alliance for Serbia, and is currently taking part in the United Serbia for the 2022 general election. History The Civic Platform was founded in April 2017 by assembly members Aleksandra Čabraja, Sonja Pavlović and Jovan Jovanović, all of whom had been elected in the 2016 Serbian parliamentary election on the DJB electoral list. The Movement of Free Citizens ( sr-cyrl, Покрет слободних грађана, Pokret slobodnih građana, PSG) is a liberal political organization in Serbia. History Saša Janković was in the position of state ombudsman, and as such, he often criticized practices of the government, led by SNS and Vučić. This positioned him among voters as opposition spokesperson and led to him enjoying relatively high ratings in relation to actual opposition leaders and politicians. As his term was about to end, he decided to resign and run in the presidential elections, scheduled for April 2017. His most notable endorsement came from the Democratic Party, which decided to support Janković, rather than to have a candidate of its own. The Liberal Democratic Party ( sr-cyrl, Либерално демократска партија, Liberalno demokratska partija, LDP) is a liberal political party in Serbia. It is led by Čedomir Jovanović. History The Liberal Democratic Party was founded on 5 November 2005 by former members of the Democratic Party, led by Čedomir Jovanović, who were expelled in a party purge in 2004. Jovanović had become critical of the new direction of the Democratic Party and its newly elected president, Boris Tadić. USR PLUS was a Romanian progressive, liberal, and centrist political alliance active between 2019 and 2021. Established on 2 February 2019 solely as an electoral alliance between the political parties Save Romania Union (USR) and the Freedom, Unity and Solidarity Party (PLUS) it was initially called 2020 USR-PLUS Alliance ( ro, Alianța 2020 USR-PLUS). The alliance was formed to participate together in the May 2019 European Parliament election in Romania. Subsequently, the two parties decided to sign a protocol for a political alliance for the 2019 Romanian presidential election and for the 2020 local and legislative elections as well. The Liberal Democratic Party ( Macedonian: Либерално-демократска Партија, ''Liberalno-demokratska Partija'') is a social-liberal political party in North Macedonia. The Liberal Democratic Party was launched in April 1997 as a merger between the Liberal Party and the Democratic Party. The first leader of the party was Petar Goshev from the Democrats, who was also the last president of the League of Communists of Macedonia. When the Liberal Party was re-established in 1999, a significant portion of the former Liberal Party remained in LDP. Since 1994 the LDP has been a member of Liberal International. The Liberal Party of Macedonia ( mk, Либерална партија на Македонија, ''Liberalna partija na Makedonija'') is a conservative-liberal political party in North Macedonia. The party was a member of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party but is no longer a member. It is currently led by Ivon Velickovski. History The Liberal Party was established on 5 October 1990 as the Union of Reform Forces in Macedonia (Сојуз на реформски сили, ''Sojuz na reformski sili'', SRS). Although it shared its name with the Union of Reform Forces operating in other parts of Yugoslavia and headed by Prime Minister Ante Marković, it was not directly linked to the party. Liberal Party of Montenegro ( cnr, Либерална партија Црне Горе, ''Liberalna partija Crne Gore'', LP) is a liberal political party in Montenegro. Initially, the party advocated liberalism and the bringing down of Milo Đukanović's rule, saw it as authoritarian and undemocratic. It had continued the fight against what it saw as the DPS' authoritarianism that the Liberal Alliance of Montenegro pursued since its foundation in 1990. However, the party changed its discourse and became a junior coalition partner of DPS both on local and national level since 2006, when Đukanović's regime declared independence of Montenegro.
