Liberal homophobia is the acceptance of homosexuality as long as it remains hidden. It is a type of homophobia in which, despite acceptance of sexual diversity being expressed, prejudices and stereotypes that marginalize or underestimate LGBT people are perpetuated. Definition Liberal homophobia is a practice that is based on understanding relationships and sexuality as private issues and, therefore, accepting individual freedom over them as long as they do not emerge in the public sphere. Homosexuality
Homosexuality is romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Straight-acting
''Straight-acting'' is a term for a same gender-attracted person who does not exhibit the appearance or mannerisms of what is seen as stereotypical for gay people. Queerbaiting is a marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but then do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation. The purpose is to attract (" bait") an LGBTQ+ or straight ally audience with the suggestion or possibility of relationships or characters that appeal to them. Pinkwashing is the strategy of promoting LGBT rights protections as evidence of liberalism and democracy, especially to distract from or legitimize violence against other countries or communities, often to improve a country's tarnished reputation.
