Libera!
Libera! is a Spanish non-profit animal rights organization. Among other actions, it carries out education and public-awareness campaigns. Libera! was founded in 2004 in Barcelona. The group's initial actions focused on Catalonia, but the group gradually transformed into a national organisation. One of its campaigns reached international media was the campaign ''Libera a Susi'' (Spanish: "Free Susi"). This campaign aimed to free the only elephant at the Barcelona Zoo, an African elephant named Susi, who according to Libera! and the British organisation Born Free Foundation, suffered from severe psychological problems resulting from loneliness. Libera! aims to move Susi to an elephant sanctuary, where she could live in better and freer conditions in the company of other elephants. Baltasar Garzón Real (; born 26 October 1955) is a former Spanish judge. Garzón formerly served on Spain's central criminal court, the ''Audiencia Nacional'', and was the examining magistrate of the ''Juzgado Central de Instrucción No. 5'', which investigates the most important criminal cases in Spain, including terrorism, organised crime, and money laundering. Poaching
Poaching has been defined as the illegal hunting or capturing of wild animals, usually associated with land use rights. Poaching was once performed by impoverished peasants for subsistence purposes and to supplement meager diets. It was set against the hunting privileges of nobility and territorial rulers. Since the 1980s, the term "poaching" has also been used to refer to the illegal harvesting of wild plant species. In agricultural terms, the term 'poaching' is also applied to the loss of soils or grass by the damaging action of feet of livestock, which can affect availability of productive land, water pollution through increased runoff and welfare issues for cattle. Mariano Fernández Bermejo (born 1948) is a Spanish jurist and politician, who served as justice minister of Spain from 2007 to 2009. Early life and education Bermejo was born in Arenas de San Pedro, Ávila, in 1948. He holds a PhD in law, which he obtained from Complutense University in Madrid in November 1969. CAS International is an international non-profit advocacy group which aims to end bullfighting. CAS International was founded in 1993 as Comité Anti Stierenvechten, with the help of ADDA from Barcelona, Spain, De Dierenbescherming ( Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals) and the international animal welfare organisation WSPA originally aimed at stopping Dutch tourists from going to bullfighting.
