Liaquat Ali Lucky
Liaquat Ali Lucky (born 13 January 1957) is a Bangladeshi actor, director, singer, composer and cultural organiser. He has been the director general of Shilpakala Academy since April 2011. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 2019. As of 2018, he has acted in 58 theatre plays and directed 82 plays. Early life and career Lucky was born to Sheikh Sadek Ali and Majeda Begum on 13 January 1957 in Nawabganj Upazila, Dhaka. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy ( bn, শিল্পকলা একাডেমি; National Academy of Fine and Performing Arts) is the principal state-sponsored national cultural center of Bangladesh. History It is the national academy of fine and performing arts. The academy was established through an act of Parliament in 1974 as a statutory organization under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. But subsequently the Act of 1974 of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was amended through a new act of Parliament in 1989. The academy is headed by a Director General. The overall direction for the functioning of the academy is provided by an Executive Council (Shilpakala Academy Parishad) headed by the Minister in charge of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Kamal Lohani
Kamal Lohani (26 June 1934 – 20 June 2020) was a Bangladeshi journalist. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He served as the director general of Shilpakala Academy from April 2009 until April 2011. Career Lohani got his first job as a journalist in the Daily Millat in 1955. He joined as a secretary at Chhayanaut, a cultural organization, in 1962. He formed a left cultural organization – ''Kranti'' in 1967. Early life Kamal Lohani was born on 26 June 1934 in the village of Santala in the then Pabna District (now Ullahpara Upazila of Sirajganj District). Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019.
