Liam Paro
Liam Robert Paro (born 16 April 1996) is an Australian professional boxer, who has held International Boxing Federation (IBF) light-welterweight title since June 2024. Early life Paro was born and raised in Mackay, Queensland to a family of Italian descent. His first sporting interest came in the form of rugby league where he played for the North Mackay Magpies in the local junior competition. At 13 years of age, he was introduced to the sport of boxing and gave up playing rugby league to focus solely on pursuing a professional career in boxing. In pursuit of higher levels of training, Paro moved to Townsville at 17 years of age before settling in Brisbane as a 20-year-old, where he would regularly train with the likes of future world champion Jeff Horn in the lead up to his monumental victory over legendary Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. A split decision (SD) is a winning criterion in boxing, most commonly in full-contact combat sports, in which two of the three judges score one particular competitor as the winner, while the third judge scores for the other competitor. South Bank Piazza
The South Bank Piazza is a multipurpose venue located in the South Bank Parklands in Brisbane, Australia. The Courier-Mail was the naming rights sponsor of the venue from 2013, prior to which it was known as the Suncorp Piazza and is currently known as the South Bank Piazza. It was constructed for Expo 88. The venue is close to the South Brisbane railway station and the Cultural Centre Busway Station. The amphitheatre is covered by a sound shell (designed by architectural firm Ark Atelier), and features a 5x4m suspended screen.
