Lia Olguța Vasilescu
Lia Olguţa Vasilescu (born 18 November 1974) is a Romanian politician, member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD). She served as mayor of Craiova from 2012 to 2017, when she resigned to become Minister of Labor. She was reelected as Mayor of Craiova in 2020 and since then she has been serving as the Mayor of Craiova. Personal life Her ancestors left Cadrilater in 1940, after the Treaty of Craiova which transferred the region from Romania to Bulgaria. She is a graduate of the Elena Cuza National College in her native city. In 1997 she graduated the Faculty of Philology and History of the University of Craiova (Romanian-Italian language specialization). Between 1997 and 2000, Vasilescu worked for the local newspaper ''Cuvântul Libertăţii'' from Craiova. She was an editor in the first year and became the Head of the Investigations Department in 1998. PRO TV (, often stylized as PRO•TV as of 2017) is a Romanian free-to-air television network, launched on 1 December 1995 as the fourth private TV channel in the country (after TV SOTI, Antena 1, and the now-defunct Tele7ABC). Dan Mircea Geoană (; born 14 July 1958) is a Romanian politician and former ambassador who served as president of the upper chamber of the Romanian Parliament, the Senate from 20 December 2008 until he was revoked on 23 November 2011. From 21 April 2005 until 21 February 2010, he was the head of the Social Democratic Party (PSD, ro, Partidul Social Democrat), Romania's largest political party to this day. Furthermore, he was the candidate of the party for the position of President of Romania in the 2009 presidential election which he narrowly lost to Traian Băsescu. Corneliu Vadim Tudor (; 28 November 1949 – 14 September 2015) also colloquially known as "Tribunul" was the leader of the Greater Romania Party ( ro, Partidul România Mare), poet, writer, journalist, and a Member of the European Parliament. New Generation Party (Romania)
The New Generation Party – Christian Democratic (''Partidul Noua Generație - Creștin Democrat'', PNGCD; formerly ''Partidul Noua Generație'', PNG) was a nationalist political party in Romania. Created in 2000 as a centrist grouping around former Mayor of Bucharest Viorel Lis, it was taken over in January 2004 by businessman Gigi Becali (owner of FC Steaua București), who became its leader. George "Gigi" Becali (; born 25 June 1958) is a Romanian businessman and former politician, mostly known for his ownership of the FCSB football club. Becali was a Member of the European Parliament between June 2009 and December 2012, and a Member of the Romanian Parliament from December 2012 up until his conviction in May 2013.
