Zankoku Na Tenshi No Thesis
, also known as "A Cruel Angel's Thesis", is a J-pop song performed by Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi. Toshiyuki Ōmori and Hidetoshi Satō composed the song, while Neko Oikawa wrote the lyrics. It was written for the opening theme of the anime television series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'', and was released as a A-side and B-side, double-A-sided single with "Fly Me to the Moon", the show's closing theme, on October 25, 1995. "The Cruel Angel's Thesis" was also included on the Music of Neon Genesis Evangelion, series' soundtrack releases and on Takahashi's albums. The song had a positive reception from music critics and audiences; it later became one of the most famous Japanese anisongs, songs specially created for anime series. Career Takahashi began her career in 1991, and released her first album, ''Pizzicato'', in 1992, which reached #28 on the Oricon weekly charts. In the following years, she released the albums ''Kugatsu no Sotsugyō'' which charted, and '' Watashi wo Mitsukete'', which did not achieve the same success of her previous albums. In 1995, she released the single , which was used as the opening song in the anime series ''Neon Genesis Evangelion''. Kitty Films (キティフィルム ''Kiti Firumu'') was a production company established in 1972 in Japan. History The company was first established in 1972 as Kitty Music Corporation under Hidenori Taga. It was a subsidiary of Polydor and MCA Inc., producing TV drama soundtracks. Their first was for the 1972 film ''Hajimete no Tabi''. The franchise has had various soundtracks, remix albums and compilations released around it. The franchise has sold more than 9million albums and singles. Shirō Sagisu composed most of the music for ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' and for the original TV show's three OST albums. He received the 1997 Kobe Animation award for "Best Music Score". King Records and their label Starchild (specializing in music, animation and film) distributed most of the albums, singles and box sets. For the anime series, Yoko Takahashi performed the song " A Cruel Angel's Thesis" which was used as the opening theme song for the series. The song "Fly Me to the Moon" originally by Bart Howard was performed by various voice actors from the anime series and these versions of the song were used as the ending theme song for the series.
