Lewis Williams
Lewis Williams (February 1, 1782 – February 23, 1842) was a U.S. Congressman from North Carolina between 1815 and 1842. Born in Surry County, North Carolina (present-day Forsyth County), Williams attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1808. He was first elected to the North Carolina House of Commons in 1812, serving for a single term (1813-1814) before being elected to the 14th United States Congress as a (Jeffersonian) Republican in 1814. Williams was re-elected to successive Congresses before his death in 1842. In keeping with the turbulent times in which the parties realigned, he served under five different party labels: as a Republican, as a Crawford Republican, as a supporter of John Quincy Adams, as an "Anti-Jacksonian," and finally as a Whig. Lewisville is a town in Forsyth County, North Carolina, United States of America. The population was 13,388 at the 2020 census, up from 12,639 in 2010. It is a Piedmont Triad community. Geography Lewisville is located in western Forsyth County at (36.098087, -80.416030). U.S. Route 421, a four-lane freeway, passes through the southern part of the town, with access from Exits 242 and 244. Anderson Mitchell
Anderson Mitchell (June 13, 1800 – December 24, 1876) was a Congressional Representative from North Carolina. Mitchell was born on a farm near Milton, North Carolina. He first attended Bingham's School, Orange County, North Carolina, and later studied law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill until his graduation in 1821. After being admitted to the bar, he commenced practice in Morganton, North Carolina in 1830. Mitchell moved to Jefferson in 1831 and to Wilkesboro in 1835. In the meantime, he served as court clerk of the superior court of Ashe County. Being elected to fill the vacancy created by the death of Lewis Williams, Mitchell, a member of the Whig party, served in the Twenty-seventh Congress from April 27, 1842, to March 3, 1843. He was unsuccessful in a reelection campaign in 1842 for the Twenty-eighth Congress.
