Lewis Wellington Hillyer
Lewis Wellington Hillyer (1818–1897) was an American politician. Hillyer was a native of Licking County, Ohio, born in 1818. After attending Granville College, he worked alongside his brother and brother-in-law as a merchant, then joined the wholesaler firm Avery, Butler & Cecil. Hillyer moved to Taylor County, Iowa, in 1858, and became a farmer. Politically, Hillyer was affiliated with the Republican Party and served as a county supervisor before his election to the Iowa Senate. Licking County, Ohio
Licking County is a county located in the central portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. At the 2020 census, the population was 178,519. Its county seat is Newark. The county was formed on January 30, 1808, from portions of Fairfield County. It is named after the Licking River, which is thought to be named for the salt licks that were in the area. However, one account explains it as an English pronunciation of the river's indigenous Delaware name ''W'li/'ik'/nk'', which means "where the flood waters recede". Licking County is part of the Columbus, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Granville College
Denison University is a private liberal arts college in Granville, Ohio. One of the earliest colleges established in the former Northwest Territory, Denison University was founded in 1831. The college was first called the Granville Literary and Theological Institution, later took the name Granville College, and, in the mid-1850s, was renamed Denison University, in honor of a key benefactor. The college enrolled 2300 students in Fall 2019 and students choose from 56 academic majors. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, .
